No it doesn’t. All white patterns (roan, Tobiano, splash etc…) require a white factor. This can range from none to extreme. The higher the white factor the more pronounced the pattern is.

It is not actually related to white factor but probably should be. It has random expression because expression varies in real life as well. You can get a new seed to change the expression.

Ohh, okay! Good to know! I was starting to wonder if it was hidden genes affecting it, or something else. So I won't just toss out all my Roan horses that don't express it the way I'd like.

Another question: does the image seed for a horse have any impact on the image of their offspring? Or is it generated totally separately, based only on the genetics?

@TripleGRanch, @EaglesFly19, I had been thinking something similar... but take a look at this girl: She has no other white genes, and zero white factor, but yet her roan is quite visible.
