If you make the liver chestnut a "black liver" shade they will end up even darker than the ones above. Usually that makes a flaxen mane that's more of a cinnamon-red shade than the whitish color of a Black Forest.

Mushroom gene is IRL only in Shetland ponies, but there could be a similar gene in Black Forest horses that causes the high contrast mane and tail color.

This one also has all the darkening genes but has mushroom. I'm looking to see if I can find any darker than this. In this horse's case, the sepia toning the mushroom creates helped make it look red again even though it's so dark.

Pangare creates the lighter legs, face, and belly areas. Without that you're more likely to get the uniformly dark color for the body, you'd just miss the lighter leg feathering.

This search is for red-based horses, hom for flaxen, hom for DP and sooty or S+, with no pangare. It will show the range of darkest possible flaxen liver chestnut, including with mushroom.

ee, Hom DP, Hom Sty or S+, and Het or Hom Flaxen depending how white you want the mane are what you are looking for in game! It is Liver Chestnut.

Mushroom can get you a similar effect too but if you are trying to stick to what is natural in the Black Forest Horse mushroom wouldn't be at play.

It's not the seed it's the pangare status.

I don't have the license for the Mushroom gene unfortunately (i would definitely use it it if i could) so if i do try to recreate the dark fox to the best of my ability, I'm just gonna have to try and get the mane and tail as light as humanely possible lmao

This is with gray added to the mix. Perhaps a gray reduction added and you would be able to keep the color longer? (I know it doesn't really work maybe for you, but I thought showing how gray darkens things might help.)
