So foundies are definitely a lot easier to pass, which works out well because you can snip them as ruthlessly as you like! They're easy to come by, easy to replace, and it's very easy to get super picky with what genes you want on them. Some people will only have a certain rank special as their breeding source, and other people look for specific harder to find genes like pearl or DP or belton, or get really specific with "only white spotted blue roans" or etc.

I personally pretty much don't use foundies anymore myself aside from eggs/embryos from decked out GMTd mares, and mares with at least two of four for DP/snowflake/pearl/S+ (which mostly ends up being rank specials). I also keep a pasture of plain ExPros just for the sake of breeding a high papered stud to them to create show foals that are all snipped.
