One thing I find handy if you don't want to say anything is the show off your horse threads. Post your favorite horses once a month till the next GE and you will have enough posts.

Adding to what Seaswell said, the forum doesn’t have to be only socializing, it can often help you advance in the game. You can post questions about how certain features work or how to best do certain things, ISO (in search of) posts looking for certain horses with certain genes or qualities you want to breed for, posts with a link to the horses you have for sale/auction will help the horses sell faster and for more money, selling straws/breedings to share your horse’s genes and qualify them for the futurity leaderboards, and finding good deals just by lurking on what other people post for sale/auction/breedings.

For example, I’m currently giving away horses in a chatroom, and I made a post on the forum about it to advertise, so just by being present in the forum you could get free horses. And to get your activity a simple “Thank you” and nothing else is an easy response on giveaways you participate in.

And none of these options requires any form of small talk, just simple and practical questions or statements regarding price and such. Between that and threads that are just silently post your favorite horses, it’s very easy to get plenty of activity without need for mindless chatter.

Hmm. I see. That makes sense. It's still rough for me, as I don't really have any questions right now, or much to offer in a practical way in the forums, but I'll do my best. I'm not going to die if I can't participate, in any event, so it's hardly a critical issue.

(And thank you re: names! I really enjoy coming up with names. A lot of them are from songs, or Star Trek, or StarCraft, but still.)
