Breeding Technicalities Help
-
Hey, newbie here! I'm a little confused on the breeding advice/breeding inspection. I understand on a basic level the differences, but on a more technical level is where I'm having an issue.
For example, I have a filly that I did a breeding inspection on and she got a yellow, which my understanding of is a 'basic' grade? Like generic foundation horse level? So then I did the breeding advice, and she failed it, so she got spayed.
How can she pass the inspection and not the advice?
What are the downsides to not doing the breeding advice... if any? (Other than the... moral ethics?) Is it just the papers?
Is there any way to help the horses pass?
I appreciate any response! -
Breeding Advice compares the foal's breeding quality with that of its parents. If its hidden breeding number is worse than that of its parents, it will fail and be automatically neutered.
Breeding Inspection identifies what level of breeding ability the foal has: failed, yellow, red, blue or gold for fillies; failed, C, B, A, Star for colts from lowest to highest.
So, for the filly in question, she papered yellow when you did the Breeding Inspection test, which gave you information about her breeding level, which was about the level of a newly created 1st gen mare who didn't fail that test. When you did the Breeding advice, her breeding ability was probably lower than one or both of her parents, which is an indication that she would not be able to advance the ability of that line of horses.
Generally speaking, most players of this game aim to have the offspring of each generation of a given line improving on the breeding ability of the previous generation.
I hope this will help you understand the difference between the two tests and also help you understand how using the results can enable you to improve the quality of your horses in each successive generation.
I always do Breeding Advice before Breeding Inspection because that will weed out any foal which does not compare better than its parents. If a horse fails that, there isn't a lot of sense in spending the hajibucks to do the Breeding Inspection, unless you have lots of game cash on hand. :DDe gustibus non disputandum. Ok I think I understand it better. Inspection is based on a base line pass\fail and Advice is a pass\fail based on the parents. So .. For example, if both the parents are good and the foal is average, it can fail?

Breeding inspection gives you a breeding score for a horse to show its breeding quality, a horse can not pass or fail it. Breeding advice compares a foal to its parents and if it is good enough it will pass and if not it will be altered.

I'll add another question here because it's somewhat similar: what is the likelihood of Rank Special horses failing breeding advice? Are they more likely to succeed since they're harder to come by, or is it the same chance?
-
Rank specials are guaranteed to either be perfect foundation yellows, or exceptional producing/exceptionally perfect reds. They will always 100% of the time pass both breeding advice and strict breeding advice. :)
Additionally, any other herd helpers which state the horses will be "perfect" breeders or "exceptional producing/exceptionally perfect" will also pass BA/SBA 100% of the time.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I figured the "perfect" ones would, but I don't always remember what the RS states so I've always been nervous about it. Thanks for the response!
