Why is he creme?
  • I just made this Clean Slate horse, and while I'm very happy with him, it said that he would be grullo. He came out "creme" (not cream, creme) and very much not grullo. Is this a thing that happens? Why did this happen? I'm very confused.

  • He's guaranteed to be grullo, meaning have at least one dominant extension (E_), all recessive agouti (aa), and at least one dun (D_). The cream genes are a bonus. All the herd helper horses follow the rules their helper is made with but they can have other genes that randomly appear on them.

If you don't like him, I'm sure someone will be willing to take him off your hands.

This is one of mine that turned out unexpected. Her second set of DNA turned off the appaloosa (Lp) so that half is solid instead of spotted.

Silver Pocket Watch guarantees EE aa ZZ SW1/SW1. This horse has a bonus of roan.

This one ended up bay roan on her second set of DNA.

This one, appaloosa on one half.

(I sort of collect the chimeras that have unique quirks like this, where they are visually very different on each set. That's why I said you'd probably find someone who would pay a good bit for such a horse that has bonus genes. There's projects for every color and pattern you can think of, and unique horses like this might need less modifying!)

  • @Checkmace If you don’t like him, I do! How much do you want for him?
  • @BoredCowgirl So, uh, this is a little embarrassing, but I've never sold a horse on the forum before. Letting the other person set the price is probably a big no-no, but I'm trusting you so: How much should I want for him? What's the price range for this kind of thing?

(And sorry for the late reply!)
  • I'm going to slide in a lil bit, I'm sure BoredCowgirl won't mind :D
Letting the other person set the price is perfectly fine! Sometimes people will even haggle a little bit, although that is even rarer and usually only happens when the seller does state that the price is flexible.

For pricing foundations, the Herd Helper list is a huge boon. You can find it by going to Member Home -> Account and Stable Management -> My Herd Helper Collection. It will automatically open to all of the RS hhs, and this also shows the average sale price that these RS go for. Pressing the buttons "ctrl" and either "g" or "f" at the same time will bring up a bar where you can type in words, say, Clean Slate, and the website will be scanned and you'll automatically be taken to the places on that webpage where it has "Clean Slate" in that order!

With this, you at least know what the lowest acceptable price for your Clean Slate would be. Since it has "extras" you would expect above the average sale price. Unless you really want the horse gone, then the average sale price or even below would be acceptable :)

    Prices are almost always negotiable.

  • Thanks so much!

@BoredCowgirl I'll take 26k for him if you still want him!
  • Sounds good to me. What’s your ID? I’ll add you to my chat.
