GMTing For bay alleles from parent with A*
-
I’m planning on making this guy EE AA. Despite the fact that I currently have no GMTs I went in to see what I could do. He’s Ee aA. It shows that I can gmt the E on (as expected since both horses are brown) but his sire has A*a and I can not gmt that side (completely understandable if I can not as I know A* has been removed). Are all foals born from A* parents automatically given the not A* gene or does it switch to A if they receive it? If that’s the case, wouldn’t I be able to gmt the A on? I’ll have to look back through and see what I can find in the forum and change log about it but I wanted to ask here as well.
*Edit* I did find the post for the brown update. Horses with A* will pass down just A but nothing about GMTing.

The sire does not have normal A so you can't add a normal A in the GMT lab.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
