The above foal carries G from the sires side. I wanted to modify it off and I'm notified that "edit options chimeric parent strand 1 - your horse has the G allele for this Gray gene" directly under that is "edit options chimeric parent strand 2 - your horse has the G allele for this Gray gene" and I can remove either option? Does not make sense. The foal only carries one strand of DNA and only carries G from her sire. What am I missing?

So just double checking, but you are seeing something like this? Where you click to edit the gene that the foal got from the chimeric parent, but instead of just the one option it comes up with two?

This is a link to my horse, I clicked on the ONX gene it got from the sire. Along with the onyx one strand there is also Dun, and on the other nd1. And uh, I don't think it should be doing this? Usually a horse will only inherit one strand, and you cannot gmt on something from the other? This is not new. The sire is chimeric. You can edit from either strand of the sire's DNA. ObsidianKitsune is incorrect this is how it is supposed to work.

Yes that's what happened. So to make sure I understand, either option will remove my horses Gray gene?

Yes, you can edit on either g from the sire. Sire is G/g/G/g
