I did a dumb... a very expensive one...
  • I was so excited to finally boost this guy only to realize I forgot to max out his ability. Now I can't max him without over-riding the boost :'(

  • If you try to boost something that is already past the cap it will tell you that you can’t.

I often max boost my clones that don’t get the showing ability/pt score of the horse I cloned them from. It keeps their paper level at 5% above breeding cap, but boosts their showing ability:

If the they already kept the showing ability o get an error message saying that I can’t max boost the horse again.

I’ve never had one be “returned” to the paper cap and I’ve done a good 10-20 of these.

But it looks like your guy is already at the pt cap so it’d probably just give you the error message.

  • @pestilenttempest maxing and boosting are completely different things. Maxing gives the the highest abilities they can get from their parents. Boosting pushes them past that limit. I am pretty sure I saw Ammit has even mentioned to always max out before boosting because it can overwrite the boost. I wanted to max him out and then boost to make him the best possible he could possibly be. I don't care about the cap/PT. I want his breeding ability higher but I forgot to max him first so I messed it up unfortunately. He will still be a good breeder but not as good as he could be.

Also, boosting doesn't have a cap. Maxing does have a limit since it's based on what the parents can produce. Just because his PT is high, does not mean he is maxed out breeding quality wise.

  • It's not going to totally make up for what you lost, but if you're making him avail, I would do 20k per straw for 10 and speld and lock his foals :x

  • @Looper I am not sure what I am going to do with him yet so gonna hold off on breeding for now while I decide :)

  • Ah I assumed you tested for breeding cap before boosting. ^_^ my bad

I max out past boost all the time. It hasn’t overwritten yet. That horse I linked is 5% above breeding cap and will be boosted to 10% whenever I stop spending money. ^_^
