I'm guessing that his white spots increased in size. Snowflake is a form of varnish for Appy. Technically, all of the Appy horses varnish every single season. However their image is not necessarily updated every single season, which can lead to what looks like a big jump. There is no way to reverse the varnishing process that I know of.

Would the pattern of spotting change too? And shouldn’t it have updated when I re-tacked him for the holidays?

Clearing your image cache depends on what device and what operating system you are running. Basically, windows, apple, or mobile? It'd be best to google it, you should get a step by step guide on it.

I'm unsure if tacking a horse will also refresh the coat. But then if you are having hanged images as is, it may have done so but your device didn't recognize the "new" image and kept on using the "old" one

He's an Evergreen Boughs. I thought they didn't varnish? There's another appy modifier in the game that we can't see, though I don't know exactly what it is.

There are a few hidden genes that effect appys. One is for micro spots. So even if your horse does have the spot enhancer gene, if they also have the "micro spot" gene the spots won't be max size (I don't think). The other is varnishing rate. As said, Evergreen Boroughs have slower varnishing rate, but you can create horses with this gene as well. You just need to wait longer to be sure about when the horse will begin to varnish.

In comparison as well, I JUST regenerated some of my snowflake images. The refresh did not seem to work, I needed to press the regenerate button.


BOOT Hamburger Guys Hamburger here had smaller flecks than the stud OP posted, but when regenerated he turned out almost white!

I also have a good comparison between these two here. Their snowflake spot size was roughly the same, so I think Cellular had a last age up at about 3 years of age? Or maybe it was 2... Photo has not had an image regeneration.

No problem :) I know a lot of people don't like snowflake because it usually turns the horse fully white, although I think the changing spots are fun!
