Breeding Advice Question
-
Just bred a few mares and every foal failed breeding inspection. Is this because I'm using stallions with a much higher PT Score than the mares? For better chances of passing the BA should I be breeding stallions and mares with similar PT Scores?
-
In my experience, yes. The closer the PT of the two parents, the better chance of a horse that passes breeding inspection.

Breeding inspection does not tell you if the foal is good or not. It tells if the foal compares favorably to both of its parents. If one parent is much higher than the other it is very hard for the foal to be as good as the better parent.Need to contact me? Read this first. Still a bit confused :(
Bred one foal from a 10.70 PT Sire and 10.40 PT Dam, the foal received a score of 11 PT and was still gelded. Is there something else I'm missing?
-
Yes. There are two testing and scoring systems. One for breeding and one for showing. Showing tells you the training potential of a horse NOT the genetic potential of the horse. Breeding advice is a breeding test. PT is a showing test. While the numbers are both inherited from the parents you can't use PT to know what the hidden breeding ability numbers are. You can ride a horse and get a feel for how it will show but only breeding it can really tell you how well it can produce.
Also, genetics in real life and in the game have lots of random factors. You can not guarantee a perfect foal. Most foals will not be worth keeping intact to breed.Need to contact me? So, if im understanding correctly, when trying to get a passed SBA and BA, you should breed horses that are consistent with each other? Yellow to C. Red to B. Blue to A. Gold to Star. Correct? Regardless of their PTs, that would result in a high passing rate, correct?Aspen Farms #48077|Aspen Farms Exchange-Public Chat

PT tells you how well/long a horse will train for. Papers tell you how good a breeder a horse is. Matching breeding ability can boost your intact rate because it is easier for two horses of similar ability to great a foal that is as good or better than the stronger of the pairing.Need to contact me?
