I feel like I’m finally understanding how to play this game and what my goals are, and I realize now that I made a bunch of less than great decisions.

What I wish there was, was a Reset option that took away all your horses, achievements, etc. and restarted you like a fresh new account, but left behind your real cash purchases.

I guess I’ll make a new free account, and merge it with this one in three months… it’s not ideal

I don't think there's any rule against turning all your current horses into show ponies (snip and toss into a barn) and then starting from scratch with your breeding herd, if that helps.

As Ammit has posted on the forum, the free-account merging is going to change a lil bit, I think it was meant to be this month?

There are several ways you can raise money, and if you have specific pointed questions some of the members could help point you in a direction that should solve them. Keeping an eye and going through the giveaways and contests can help.

I’m right there with you- I started in 2018, but never realized how important the pointed creates or a show herd were until now that I’ve come back from my 1.5 year break. So I always just sold or auctioned off all my pointeds, but now I’m working with a 2k daily show bonus.. what I’m trying to do is buy pointeds from the auction since I can’t create my own anymore.
I’m also trying to establish a show herd with exceptional show horse or exceptionally perfect spelled yearlings.
Im realizing it’s going to take longer to get my daily bonus up, but I’m hoping it’ll work eventually

Merging is much more tightly controlled now and not always approved. It does not sound like that is the kind of merge we would approve. We only approve merges when both accounts were actively played and used. Never to transfer new account benefits.

If you let us know what mistakes you think you made we can help you figure out a plan forward. You are not stuck. It is just a mater of figuring out how we can help.

That’s why I was imagining a reset…

I understand the merge restrictions are to prevent an unfair advantage with grafted-on starters.

What I was hoping for was something that doesn’t exist, a reset that took away all your profits and horses so you *can’t* use it as a way to cheat. You’d be in the same position as anyone starting new, just with a little more knowledge this time, and with whatever barns and pastures you spent real money on.

I feel like there’s got to be a clutter of deactivated accounts that could have been prevented if there was a “Start Over” option.

I realize that would be a major thing to implement

Now I’m in an awkward position because before I saw Ammit’s response here, I had gone ahead and started a new free account (SteelBlue).

Genuinely, I am not trying to cause problems. I’m just too much of a perfectionist for my own good, my brain is always like “start over and do it RIGHT this time”

What’s the ethical thing to do now, with SteelBlue vs Stranger?

I just did the $2 welcome upgrade for SteelBlue, so if it comes down to it, I will delete the Stranger account despite having spent more there.

I'd personally just keep both accounts and see where you end up. You may decide you prefer your "stranger" account over this one after some time of messing with both. It's not against the rules to have two accounts, as long as they're under the same email, and you're not found "cheating" with them (which, currently, I don't think you are).

I tend to like keeping a second account, as it helps me test out new color ideas for horses without having to spend real money, if I don't want to. (Exactly what I'm doing with my current second account; breeding for a line of horses with ee, champagne, grey, ND1, Tobiano, Splash, and frame).

You are not doing anything unethical. You are 100% allowed to have more than one account. You'll just have to play the new one for some time before any merges would be approved. :)

@ SpryOfJune That’s a thought. I’m excited to pursue my fancy blue roan goals with SteelBlue, but maybe I’ll use the Stranger account to get into buckskins or something. I’ll have to mess around with the Search until I find something inspiring.

Your project sounds very pretty! What kind of A genes will they have, or do you want a range?

This is the horse I found in Search which inspired my goals for SteelBlue. Complicated enough to keep me busy for years.

They actually won't have any A genes (at least not noticeable on the horse), because the horses will be red based. :)

I was having second doubts myself a few months ago. I had all of these different colored horse with different genes that I purchased over the years and it wasn't something I wanted. I wanted my herd to be the same but different markings with higher papers. So I snipped (C and Yellow papered horses) and kept the ones I wanted my herd to be. I mainly breed drafts as some of you know, but my herd contains both KP2 and KP gene, because that's what I like. I'm trying to cut back on the white spotted variation of colors because it not what I'm going for. My goal is to have my herd look something like this

Chestnut Saddle Back KPKP

VS Blue Roan Smoke KPKP

A little over 2 years ago I got mad at my bluegrass account cause it just wasn't doing what I wanted. I snipped everything and dumped what didn't fit in a show barn in auction. It took about six months to really get my new breeding program started, but those show horses held me over till I could really start making new ones. I'm a big fan of cull all the things and be happy.

Similar boat as Seaswell, above. I was breeding for a specific type of appy on Bluegrass, then decided that I really wanted heavy heavy bone drafts with fantasy genes... So I did a mass culling of my lined stock re-organized my pasture foundation girls and basically re-started. I am much happier now.

So many people have done the mass alter and start over on breeding. Some do it on the regular. It works great.
