Question about Champagne and Cream genes
-
I was wondering why champagne doesn't show up in the name of a horse if they are also hom for Cr. For example, I created a horse using the sooty champagne herd helper. Then when I gene tested, two (out of 15) came up with no champagne in their names but their genes say they are het Ch. One was a Perlino roan and the other Cremello.

1) horse color names are based on phenotype (how they look to the eye) rather than genotype (what their actual genetics are) both in real life and in the game (this is why there is that whole real life debate about sorrel vs chestnut).
2) hom cream overrides all the visual characteristics of champagne—coat color, eye color, skin color—so champagne drops out of the color name.Thanked by 1smswiere
