TripleG's Findings
  • While I didn't get to really immerse myself in playing as a "newbie" this past month
(Focused on Gift Exchange) I might as well give a few praises and insights
for what I have seen and experienced.

The updated changes to the achievements were fantastic. The much larger chunk of change given was nice to help counter any testing done and showing expenses. Like I had read from another player, the 5% stall space was meaningless to me back when I started and still on the back burner for me know when I can purchase barns for more space. (eventually) Though I did appreciate the chunk for my older accounts for the added-on awards. Email does only mention 2 servers. Bluegrass and Forest. No Mesa.

I remember when I first started playing, I was interested in fancy horses that caught my eye and not much on the whole gotta make money to spend money problem. I think that's where a lot of players are lost. They use up the cash and get bored. This isn't a become a big barn in a matter of days game. It took me a year on my Mains to be somewhat sustaining and learning to not be so impulsive (still working on that area. Ha ha) But I also have spent RL money. Which I only do for games that really interest me.

The startup deal for Basic is fair for $1.99. That 3 months' time gives a taste of the easy life. Auto training. [-O< If they truly enjoy the game, they will continue to pay for the basic (either through RL or IV exchange) or even upgrade to Premium. (I know when my Basic year ran out, that was the way to go.) As far as the automatic showing is concerned. That's what sold me really. Maybe some sort of trail of premium? I don't know how costly that would be. The forum can be a scary place for people who one don't understand how to use them or are afraid to post anything (anxiety). I was the latter for quite some time 'til I just got the nerve up. It's very beneficial to use them from my experience. Everyone is super helpful when it comes to questions and are not afraid to give out some HBs to those in need.

The text reminder with every pointed create is helpful.
This horse was created with 410 points and will automatically earn you 44 hbs per day.
They will make you at least 21,472 hbs in their lifetime.
Collect show horses to improve your stable.

In total you have 24,118 held points in your account. This earns you 2,584 hbs every day.
All foundation horses you created, including those you have sold have 38,865 cumulative points.
    They earn 4,164 every day.

Helpful reminder on where one stands in the beginning, if they really know and understand what they are looking at. The auction has always been a good place to find slightly older show horses to help boost the daily payout. But you have to be savvy on checking records. I see alot of high pointed auction horses but they have leveled off in a bad spot. If you have the space to just hold them for the daily, go for it, but I like to continue to make money. Most of the time now when I create a new horse, they are either a Yearling or 2yo. Depending on how far into the month I am. I want my horses to have the most training available to them. (1st of month/week, create 2yo, a week after that are yearlings.) Does it really matter? Might not. If you are building a show herd, best to get all the training you can. Shortfall is holding onto a foal in valuable stall space.

Out of the 3 servers I feel that Forest is the most stable economically, Bluegrass being 2nd and of course Mesa, last (newest). Before the Points System change, I had sold quite a few high pointed creates for either 90% or total lifetime payout few days in. After the change I withdrew from selling anybody and just created what interested me. One thing about the limited points system for new players that create horses from the HH they have:
Say you create a random create that fails papering, has a PT of 0.0 and has 78k in lifetime pay out.
So you are $4100 in the hole after all the tests. You want to sell back cause that horse just won't do. Game buy back is only $1000. If you send to auction, some bigger barn could possibly pick it up just for the daily payout. Not worried about showing it. So then, those points are against you now. You could get lucky and break even if bids come in, or make $2750 back. How often would that happen to said person? Rarely? In the long run, prolly not that big a deal. But just what runs across my mind on that.

I will say that during this month proved to be a helpful jumpstart to most with the gift exchange in progress (people looking for pointed ponies as gifts and the new rank specials) and made things a lil smoother. I think it would have been more realistic to do in July/August. It may have been the same outcome nevertheless. All in all I feel as a whole, it's a much easier transition to playing than that of a year before. The updates are great. Thank you for everything Ammit and team.

-- I'll try to add on anything else that comes to mind this evening if I remember--

I hope that the GMT lab sees more of the sales for Closed genes. That was pretty nice, like once a month? :D I couldn't think of anyone I NEEDED to add anything to. I try to be a lil more strategic with a genes then randomly placing.. lol. But it is a nice change than spending RL money for a change.
