Breeding fantasy upper gens when foundations die
-
Hi all! I have a question about gene licenses and licensed horses dying. I currently breed a fantasy line with onyx, chinchilla and watercolor. I was reading a thread about gifting lincensed genes and about how if you gift all your foundations with [insert gene here], you no longer own/can breed said gene. I was aware of this, and while I'm not looking to gift genes, I started wondering about what happens when my fantasy foundations die. Will I be unable to breed their descendants with fantasy genes? Do I lose my license because the foundation horse I put the gene on died? Do I always need to keep a foundation with say, chinchilla, even if I only want to breed chinchilla gen 3s and up?
I think I've been under the impression that once you've bought a gene license, you get to keep it unless you give it away, regardless of if the horse you put the license on is alive or not. This is probably just a misunderstanding on my part, but I wanted to ask for clarification on this issue.
TL;DR: If my fantasy/licensed foundations die, will I be unable to breed my upper gens with those fantasy/licensed genes?ID #384 -
The license is not attached to the horse. It doesn't mater if they die.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
