GP GMT mix up; a question
-
So, I MEANT to make this mare bay so the GP that I GMT'd onto her would show up, but I forgot, and bred her, and now I can't GMT her anymore. My confusion is that since she is black it won't show, but she will still pass it on, correct? But I'm never going to see it because my GP stallion is RED (for pity sake! This is how we learn things! I should have named her Comedy of Errors!). So my best bet is to hope that they throw as many bays as possible?

I dont know 100% but Im pretty sure you can just yum the foal and then you'll be able to GMT her
-
Yes, you can. :) As long as she has no foals in her search and she's 4 or younger, she can be GMTd.
-
Well, but I kinda like the foal. That's why I was asking about the alternatives.
-
True, she's cute. Since he's Hz Bay and she's Hz Black, they's always breed a bay foal. It's after that you could worry about, but with the right breedings, which should be easy, the offspring can breed more bays. :)
-
^ what she said lol. But if you DO decide you want her to be bay more than you want to keep the foal make sure you do it before she turns five on the 1st!
-
So if they will always make bay foals, IF the GP passes along it will show on the foals, right?
-
Yes, but the foals will need to get GP from both parents...so foals from this pairing have a 1 in 2 chance of being homozygous GP and therefore displaying the plume or a 1 in 2 chance of being heterozygous and therefore only carrying the gene. All of your mare's foals will be at least carriers.
