Thoughts for a new user

As I reach the 2nd day. I am broke and trying to make money. I love the achievement tasks as they give money and help players learn the game, wish there was more. I also really like the forum to help figure out the game, as there is a bit of a learning curve. I also wish I could compare the stats of the horses I want to breed side by side. Other than that all is smooth and easy to play how I want to play.Puppet for BucketBF 54527

Looks like you're an actual new person! You can make a lot of money by selling the horses you make who have points. You can usually sell them for about half of their daily payout, but the price is not a rule. You might be able to get more or less at any given time for any given horse. Watch all of the special horses that are available to create this month because some of them can be sold for WAY more, so try to check whether it's one that's worth a lot before you put it up for sale. You can check by searching for horses with that name in the tattoo field (so if you wanted to search for new coke horses, you would click for sale at the very top left of the search menu then type new coke in the tattoo field). You can also check the forums to see if people are posting offers to buy that type of horse.Main account Pinkie2 51202

Thank you so much for the advice! I used to play on one of the older servers a few years ago, at least I think it was hunt and jump, idk.
For this server: a good and bad thing I run into is running out of things to do. Which is nice when I just want to play for a few minutes. I am a busy person so having a game that I can play on and move forward on in just a few minutes is really nice. The one thing I don’t like about sim games is if I leave the game unattended, I have to spend the next hour getting to a point that I can move forward on tasks. I love that this game does not have that issue.Puppet for BucketBF 54527 -
With the point update and learning to sell horses I have made some money. The next task is trying to figure out which horses are worth keeping and what I want to breed for. I personally want high point horses I don’t care about color at the moment but being new is it hard to know if a 8 is good or if a 10 is good as there is no real introduction to the horse PT thing.Puppet for BucketBF 54527

The new update has really helped with new game play, as I can really look at what I want with my horses and be able to afford it. Like breeding fees, shows, and testing. There is still a major learning curve in the game. Especially in the breeding, as it is hard to know what to look for and what horses to breed to and together. It would be nice to be able to see a mares stats next to a potential stud to compare, instead of working off of memory. I know in the real world when I am picking studs for my animals, I always look at a picture of the two animals next to each other, then I compare perigees, then I will look at genetics, and then I will look at offspring from both parents to see if that is something I want to continue. Breeding is a learned skill and this games learning curve is very similar to the learning curve of animal husbandry.Puppet for BucketBF 54527

Hi! I encourage you to (a) ask questions, (b) overprice your pointed creates, and (c) keep the most money making for yourself. All the rest is details. Oh, and go find the let me give you 75k new player thread.
I’m new and I keep everything 10.3 and up for PT. The highest I’ve ever seen is 13 and 11.6 wins awards.
Good luck and welcome. -
Hopefully a couple of pointers will help. As SummerMonarch says, feel free to ask as many questions as you want! The forum is a good place. The chatroom ...Player Support is also a good place to lurk, and sometimes asking in there can get a question answered faster~
For breeding, the game does not have any penalties for inbreeding. So a lot of people will start with a Foundation (create) stud, and breed him to foundation mares. The resulting foals are referred to as "second generation". If the pedigrees are not even, ie a second generation horse bred to a foundation, they are usually referred to as "uneven".
This game also doesn't really have conformation to focus on. We do have the three different bone types. Riding horse/pony (Bone less than 1.5), Warmblood horse/pony (bone 1.5 to 2.49), and Draft/cobs (bone 2.5 and above). I suppose you can consider "papering" as conformation, with a higher paper being "better" conformation, but in my real world experience the prettiest show dog does not always throw the best puppies. With a free account you do not have access to papering, but you can use BA/SBA to progress in the same way.
PT stands for performance test. It is a rough estimate for how long a horse will train for. The 8PT horse will train until it is 8 years old, and the 10PT horse will train until it is 10 years old, etc etc. The longer a horse trains for, the better score/at showing they get, and the higher ranked shows they can enter. The higher ranked shows, the more points they win, and thus more money! There is a small caveat to this. A horse only earns points if it does not come last. So if that 8PT horse ends up leveling off (stops training basically) at first place in a show, but the 10PT horse ends up stuck at the last spot, the 8PT horse will continue to gain points/earn you more daily money while the 10PT won't. Some people cull their show herd based on this due to space, and horses aged 10 and older entered into the auction will automatically earn you their lifetime payout.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Prices are almost always negotiable.
On the look out for pointed creates -
Something to keep in mind with the new update as well is *not* selling your pointed creates, because they're your money-makers! The points still count as your created points, even if you sell, so you'll hit your cap for pointed creates and you won't have a full barn of show horses yet. Selling may give you a big boost initially, but keeping those guys will help you out so much in the long run.Puppet account for OscarWildin on Bluegrass

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I really appreciate it!
One of the challenges of this event is looking at this game through the eyes of a new user. One thing that caught my eye is in the showing portion of the game. There is the placement and then score, for someone new, the score is a point of confusion. Looking back through some of the show horses, there are ones that receive a -1 and others that receive a 6 or higher. As score and placing are two different numbers that mean two different things. It is hard to tell if they did well. When I have shown my horses at shows there is always a perfect score to go for. For instance my last show, my score was 48.9 of 50 score and 3 of 10 placing.
I also love all the fun colors this month. It really makes starting a new stable fun, as I have been able to see and mess with all the colors and see what appeals to me when building a stable and breeding stock!Puppet for BucketBF 54527 -
So far I have come to a point where I am just playing and am led by my own intentions in the game. For example, I can set goals to become a better breeder or produce colorful show horses. It is totally up to me which is great! But one thing I think would be cool is some little quests or goals or awards you can try to get. Similar to the breeding leaderboards but just for the player. I think that might be something that might help keep interest in the game as you are working towards what you want and have a game goal to shoot for.Puppet for BucketBF 54527

My current 2 biggest things I wish this game has
1. The ability to compare horses side by side when breeding.
2. And to be able to tell where all my horses stood in their clubs.Puppet for BucketBF 54527 -
How would your quest idea be different from the achievements we have now? :-)Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

Hey! I really like the achievements idea, and the only issue I am running into is the point achievements. Because once those become the goals the game can become repetitive. Which can be good for some players, and players who have minimal time. But for players with short attention span or those who like to work toward something. I suggest something like a quest/achievement things. For instance the current ponpon(forgive me if I got that wrong) candy thing is a great way to keep players involved in a quest like thing, as they are playing and exploring the game. Personally I like working toward something. When I was in school, I used khan academy for studying because they had some award system for accomplishing so many things or finishing a unit.
But that is a lot of words so here are some ideas
1. More interactive achievements for players of all levels like breed a fully stared papered horse/breed a champagne splash horse/train a horse to Grand Prix. Simple goals but achievable for any level to play with.
2. Achievements in a quest like setting. And at the end get a cool prize, like a bonus stall or 25k. For example, if we had a breeding quest. It would go like 1. Create a mare/stallion. 2. Breed horses for a foal with a higher than 10.2 PT 3. Keep highest PT foals for show horses and breeding stock 4.sell a trained foal that has reached show level 3 5. Breed the foals (for a 3rd generation foal). 6. Sell a foal that is at 12pt or higher. — this way the player hs working toward something. You could do something like this with colors or showing or even like special quests for players at different ranks.
3.sorry these ideas aren’t great but if you want, give me a few days and I can come up with something better than what my current overstimulated ADHD brain thinks is a good ideaPuppet for BucketBF 54527Thanked by 1Ammit -
Sounds like what you are looking for is just more achievements. That is something we want to work on.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

It sounds like this would help organize achievements better too, like for example having "groups" of achievements that follow a specific goal. That plus being able to look through all possible achievements would definitely be improvements to the current setup! :xID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! If I made it so all the current achievements loaded on every page the site would take ages to load and you guys would hate it.Need to contact me? Read this first. Maybe have a section in the menu for "achievements" with certain goals under that (like for showing)? That way it has its own page and doesnt have to load on every page...
-
Sorry! I have been in the field the last few days and am now just catching up.
but you could even do something where the players could choose a few achievement paths. instead of having everything load up, that might just overwhelm everyone. i am just looking at stuff that will engage players and help make it easer on the admins to keep players!Puppet for BucketBF 54527 -
