Pointed creates and rank specials are selling like hot cakes right now which is so fun as account. I've sold both my Hidden Gates and New Coke for 750k (both high pointed). It took me forever to get this much money on Mesa. I am really liking the impact these increased points are having on the market and as a big barn on Mesa I love buying them and supporting new players.

I am selling my pointed creates (500-1000pts) for around 40% of lifetime and keeping any over 1000 for right now for my show heard. I am not planning to do any breeding for a while.

Also I can't believe how much better the game play is with just the basic upgrade (and I feel that it's very reasonable priced.) After playing on premium for so long on Mesa I felt immediately handicapped and annoyed by the individual showing, training and not being able to track auction bids. Plus the extra pasture/barn room is huge once breeding starts!

@cloverbunny I have 100% been thinking the same. Unfortunately I can't edit the post, but I was thinking of making a new one. The original offer on bluegrass was 150k, but Mesa isn't quite there yet. Either 75k or maybe even 100k? What do you think?

I'm a bit poor rn now though from the GE, but after June I would definitely be able to support that. There might be less players willing to buy, but still enough to support a higher number I think.

ETA: After thinking it through more and reading about some changes Ammit is making, I am going to wait until the end of June to make a new post and be able to also include some advice from the new user experience! :D

The “sell me a horse for way too much money” thread was a great part of my new player experience. Not only did I get enough money to make things happen, I also learned how warm and welcoming this community is. Thank you both for doing this. It’s real cool.

Last bit of thoughts from my experience:

The increased achievement payouts was excellent. A much needed change for new users! I am also a big fan of the pointed creates update with the different tiers of points.

Although - I do feel like by having this "new user experience" test during June with all the rank specials also had a big impact on how smooth the onboarding was. It was fun to have a new rank special every day and being able to sell them was a great initial boost.

I still feel like there is a "sticking" point in that 20k-40k points where you have some income and you want to start breeding but don't quite have the funds to support a full breeding herd and aren't really sure what to breed for either. I know it's been brought up already but I think this could definitely be helped by additional achievements.

One thing that I think would be cool for new players is a chance to play around with genetics in the lab to help decide what to breed for. Whether this is a "sample" horse in a lab that you could modify x number of genes per day. Or even if the rewards for some of the new achievements were GMTs.

Last point which I mentioned already in an earlier post but the whole IV Shopping system is confusing for new players and a lot of them don't even know about it. There a lot of forum posts asking about what can be bought with in game money or where to buy tack packs. I think breaking out the "IV Shopping" with it's own link in the upgrade area would really help that along with maybe a new name? Even "voucher exchange" isn't clear, it needs to say something like "Buy with HB's" and then walk you through the idea of IVs from there.

I did start bootstrapping on this account but as soon as breeding closed I sorta lost motivation. I may come back to this account to keep playing around with bootstrapping once breeding reopens!

I agree with what you're saying about IVs. They open the door to a lot of cool features in the game. And creating an emphasis on understanding how they work early on I think would be very useful. Theoretically, it'd be nice for people to spend real $ now and again to keep things running and such, but I think that's a bit of a big ask when you're brand new. Additionally, while completely playable, the game is like 100x more fun when you've got the basic upgrade and IVs can allow you to do this. I feel like the basic upgrade is the "gateway drug" of the H&J addiction :)) So I think having the new user $1.99 deal is an amazing option as well as showing how it can be purchased through IVs
