Pasture update analytics and feedback
-
Breeding season has really wound down at this point. We may get some additional late breedings but for the most part, things are done. I want to both share the stats and ask people how the change in pastures has impacted them.
Stats first. These are for bluegrass.
98,527 total pasture foals born
73,571 total purchased pasture foals
24,956 total primary pasture breedings
Primary Pastures:
Premium: 4 users used all 3 slots. 9 users used between 108 and 230 slots. (1,386 foals in total in excess of pasture size)
Basic Upgrade: 6 users used all 180 slots. 25 users used between 61 and 177 slots. (1,729 foals in excess of pasture size)
Free accounts: 37 users used all 30 slots. and 48 used between 11 and 29 slots. (1,392 foals used in excess of pasture size)
4,507 total primary pastures foals in excess of slots.
Looks like pasture breeding is a big upgrade incentive. That is very important info for me.
Purchased Pastures:
Size 100:
13 pastures owned by 4 users (2p, 2b) used all 300 slots. (2,600 foals in excess of size)
9 pastures owned by 6 users (5p, 1b) used between 113 to 288 slots. (617 foals in excess of size)
3,217 total excess foals.
Size 60:
11 pastures owned by 3 users ( 2p, 1b) used all 180 slots. (990 foals in excess of size)
10 pastures owned by 8 users(6p, 2b) used between 62 and 120 slots. (296 foals in excess of size)
1,286 total excess foals.
Size 30:
1 pasture owned by 1 user (1b) used all 90 slots ( 60 foals in excess of size)
18 pastures owned by 14 users (9p,5b) used between 31 and 89 slots (248 foals in excess of size)
308 total foals in excess.
Size 10:
16 pastures owned by 10 users (320 foals in excess of size)
22 pastures owned by 19 users (187 foals in excess of size)
507 total foals in excess.
Cumulative total of 9,825 foals in excess of slots or 9.9% of all foals born.
In total 42 purchased pastures owned by 18 were maxed out.
Maxed out pasture use:
1 user did this 2 times
4 users did this 4 times
1 user did this 4 times
2 users did this 7 times.
In total 100 pastures owned by 50 users used more than 1x number of foal slots.
Over 1x use in a pasture:
5 users did this 2 times.
5 users did this 3 times.
1 user did this 4 times
2 users did this 5 times
3 users did this 7 times
1 user did this 8 times.
29 users in the game created more foals (in purchased pastures) than they had purchased pasture slots for ranging from 2 to 1400 foals in excess. (9 users bred over two times the number of slots but most only in single digits. ) Of these only 7 users have 100 foals in excess and only 3 have 500 foals in excess of slots.
The three users with 800 to 1400 foals in excess also maxed out or nearly maxed out their primary pastures. Of those three two are using foal churning with one having made 15.6 million in the auction this month and the other having made 9.2 million in the auction this month.
Conclusions
Overall it seems like this change is not massively impacting users BUT at 3x cap, we are still seeing some users using breed and dump tactics for huge profits. Importantly I am not seeing any trends that specific upgrade levels are more likely to max out the resources so there is no need to do any adjustments based on level but I do think we probably need to lower the cap to 2x the pasture size because of some exploitive behavior by some users. (Again to be clear they are not in any kind of trouble the game allows this. It is something I need to account for balancing reasons is all).
I am going to leave the pasture cap at 3x for the May breeding season. It probably will be dropped to 2x the size of the pasture for June breeding season just to kick the legs out from the foal churning breeding but give some more time for those breeding over 2x time to adjust. I do not see any reason to lower the cap any more than that. These numbers look really solid.
That is all the numbers I am seeing on my end. Let me know what your real-world experience with this change has been though? Have you had to change your breeding practices at all?Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
