Needing Boy Names
  • So we had our reval party last weekend. We are having a boy! Yea...but here's the problem. I'm horrible at naming. Everything I come up with he doesn't like.
I want something different but not crazy different that has a good meaning to the name.
It really be nice to be able to honor my Grandmother somehow too. He is due one her birthday and she passed this year. Her name was Josephine. We called her Jo-Jo, Tootsies, or Jo. She was the most amazing Grandma. So loving, always happy and was like a kid even at 93..lol. She loves pink roses, hummingbird, and rainbows. Just little information to maybe help name our son. Also on another note, to me he's a gift form her. Was told be very hard even with medical help but here he is! Our surprise baby....
Anyway if we pick your name you will differently get a surprise gift of your own. I figured it be fun give back a little...plus alot you guys are super at naming. Unlike me who just named two bunnies Whiskery Jelly and Juicy Greg....lol
  • How about Luca Joseph

  • You could do Joseph Rain or Jose Rain.

  • Joey, when he gets older he can be Joe.
  • He doesn't like Joseph. He thinks it's to plummer butt sounding lol ...I don't know
  • When I was pregnant with my son I loved the name Jett Jackson (JJ). My husband wasn't a fan but I still think it is so cute!

I also like Jasper (which is a nature-y name and the gemstone jasper comes in a rainbow of colors!)

:) Good luck, baby names are tough!
  • How beautiful!

What month was her birthday? If it was August or June, I always liked the names Augustus or Jude!
You could play off Josephine as in Phillip (-phine, Phil)?
I also love the name Luca. In science it represents the last universal common ancestor, so the organism we all came from (which is super cool to me, but I'm a big bio nerd)! Think of all the colourful creatures that came from LUCA! That seems kinda rainbow-y to me.

  • I always wanted to have a reason to use the name Xidus. I also like Tate, Rudy, Alex, Angelo, Max, and Christian. I keep feeling like I should offer Prism or Cyan on the rainbow theme.

  • What was her family heritage/origin? :) I think some of the most beautiful names with meaning come from heritage languages. For example my mother's Irish roots would approximate my name as Aisling which is vision/dream.
  • Names are hard. Nathanel means "gift from heaven", you could use a middle name like Joshua or Josh to reflect your grandmother's name. Maybe there are some cool pink rose names to consider?

  • I really love playing with names so here are a bunch I found. :)

Jonah - Cause it is kinda close to Josephine
Phineas - (Phin for short) as a play off of the "phine" in Josephine.

Arcus/Arco/Iris - Are other translations for rainbow
Kole or Cole - colibri/kolibri are the word for hummingbird in multiple languages
Ross - A play on "rose" and apparently a vague Scottish translation of rose.
Rosalio - Spanish for "Man of Roses"
Roseo - Masculine version of the name "Rose in Spanish/Italian
Roswell - Has English/German roots meaning "springtime of roses"
Vardan/Vartan - Armenian roughly means "giver of roses"
Trenay - Macedonian boy's name. It means "sweet briar" or a "bunch of wild roses"
Rosar - apparently a unique Icelandic boy's name. It is comprised of two words: rose and army.
Rodas - a Spanish moniker. It is a masculine name that translates to ‘where the roses grow.'
Risay - Arabic origins means ‘one who is beloved.’ The male moniker also describes a ‘black rose.'
Jared - Hebrew origins with multiple meanings, including ruling, commanding, or rose.
Anthony - apparently is taken from the Greek word anthos, which describes a rose or flower.
Darion - which has Greek origins, means “gift”
Theodore/ Thadeus - has Greek origins and means “God’s gift”
Jesse - means “gift” in Hebrew
