Help me, show me your favorites
  • Ok so I’m trying to find something to breed again that I’ll be interested in. I’ve been breeding fantasy for so long all the normal genes just seem so bland and boring to me.

I’m currently creating two foundation boys and I’m looking for some inspiration. I have unlimited funds.

Just show me what you love the most, color wise. No fantasy genes.

These are my projects in waiting. Not satisfied with the them right now.

Trying to stay away from cream/pearl genes because that’s what my bootstraps are.
  • Here’s my two current favorites for my snow line - I’m a big sucker for the snf/kp/dp combo!

    image
    Paperweight

    image
    The Timekeeper

    And a couple foals:

    2SK Catching Time

    image
    2SK Crystal Paperweight
(With ice 8, don’t mind that)

And here’s some of my “older style” that the line has been so far, which does have fantasy in the form of ice 8 but that would be easy enough to exclude. Sooty+ over silver black is a really stunning combo.

    2SK Crystal Timepiece

I also have some with pearl

If you really find joy in fantasy though, go for that! You’re not obligated to go for the era leaderboards when you can just as easily go for the fantasy leaderboards, so that’s always something to consider - breeding for colors that make you happy instead of just aiming to win :x

Open barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!
  • If you're open to closed genes, I absolutely adore mushroom. It's probably my favourite gene in the game.

  • If you’re going no fantasy genes, I’m a huge fan of KP, DP, S+, satin and Kit M in combination. However, if you want to breed for KP and keep your herd dark, it does mean you need a herd of mares that are at least hom Sooty and have two Kit pattern genes. I avoid W20 in addition to those requirements as well as Splash, as both end up whiting out my future generations and Splash contributes to Kit Lethality.

Day of the Moon ExP DPKPY

The amazing Day of the Moon who started me down this path with my KP herd. I have a son of his in my gen 2 herd from a long hoarded straw and am loving mixing that molten gold back into my lines.

I keep my KP line entirely open genes. My GP line is also DP and sooty. I’ve changed my goals in the line several times over the years, mixing in onyx and then letting it go, mixing in appy and snowflake and then letting them go (I hate my ponies whiting out as they age—it’s cool if it’s just a few, and early snowflake I think is awesome! But I don’t like opening my all 12 year old mares just to have them go completely or nearly white.). Anyway, this is my current foundation for the line. I wish I had added DFP to him, but other than that he’s just about perfect for me for right now. I’m sure I will end up with something a little different when he ages out. Maybe P+? And I think it’s time for me to have a wild bay boy again. I love their cherry red with the DP.

    1Sunny Daze ExP JDFAtDYqy

Strangely, if I could have any “normal” colored horse in the game come to life to be my own horse, Sunny Daze is about what I would want. I have always adored a buckskin and dreamed of owning one. And this guy looks both sturdy and kind, what the 40year old ex-rider I am would need! He would promptly have that mane trimmed back though!
  • Bootstraps are honestly too easily. I can easily dominate them if I decide to which is part of the problem. Every time I find something I enjoy doing I get blocked by the game (hit the cap) and lose interest because I can’t progress my lines. Fantasy boots are the same. I’m just trying to find a reason to play the game at the moment. I wonder if there’s a cap for daily bonus? Lol.

I’m hoping that by making new studs I might have a reason to login more than a few days a month to sort pastures. Idk. I’m been struggling to find something I enjoy since my bootstraps peaked because it was the only thing I actually enjoyed and looked forward to thus far. Just want that feeling back. ^_^ I’m hoping maybe competing in era clubs will do that? Idk.

That buckskin. Is gorgeous though. I might have to gmt one of those boys buckskin.
  • He’s technically a DP S+ brown dun, not a buckskin. But he’s exactly the colour I always dreamed I would have someday,
  • So I never maxed my bootstraps, but I have to say that breeding up from Exceptional foundations to get Star gen 3s and now to finally, I think for the first time ever in my many years of playing, to have a gen 8 that is superior to my gen 7s has kept me involved. I breed 5 different lines at foundation and as the gens go up and my mare pool gets smaller they get combined into one pasture (I think I have 17 mares in my gen 7 pasture, and 380 in the foundie pastures). My even breds are placing in the best producer boards in the GP and Chinchilla groups, which is amazingly exciting to me.

I have thought of trying to breed for the eras but it just doesn’t really suit my style of line breeding. I do have an era 6 top producer stallion (which is awesome!) but it’s not because I was trying to have one.
  • Chocolate Palominos are definitely one of my favs color wise, and super dark Liver Chestnuts. I'm obsessed with flashy white markings too, Sabino 2, KitM, Kit Promoter 2 are my favs.

I think I’ve got one almost done. I decided I wanted a silver grullo

    F Lothario 8433627

I’m not quite sure why his spots are so small. Maybe the kp2 is messing with the spot regulator? He looks cute though. ^_^
  • Love him! One of my favorite studs is a silver grullo <3
  • He looks great! If you decide to sell straws, I'd love some :)
  • Lothario is stunning!

It is the Varnish Regulator 2 that is significantly contributing to shrinking his spots. You sacrifice solid spot size for that nice halo.
I think Lp Promoter also affects spot size in some way but you can't currently see or adjust that on a foundation horse. Just on lined horses.
