Custom Breyered stablemates into story characters!
-
Did my shot of custom breyering real brewers this time! This time I selected molds just right for they styles and personalities of various horses in the novel I have been working on and painted them accordingly. SO excited to now have 3-d depictions of these guys that I am happy with. Everybody, these are Konick, Barthram, Alder and Shad. (For people who saw my previous post, Shad is the old guy, but it is hard to tell)All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

Thank you! I tried very hard on them!

... And I just got models for 2 more hoses from my story. Oh now, when does this become an addiction?

They look great! I love painting stablemates, but I tried to do body modifications on one and realized the scale is soooooo small.Thanked by 1Wildland Acres

Oooo, yeah, the body modifications look cool. I love the videos of Kion the Fjord on Youtube... But I should probably have a clue how to sculpt first. Thinking of doing a dragon out of clay to go with these guys (I have often described the dragon as having a head the size of a horse body, so he would be bigger)... But I still don't know what to do about sculpting. XDAll into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

Start with some cheap clay from a hobby store just so you can play around with it, then once you're more comfortable get some nicer materials! You'd probably want to make the full thing with a wire frame or something of the sort to save on weight.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I currently have clay someone got rid of after getting out of a ceramics class. Wire is good idea

Yes, you’ll need wire/mesh armature as a base. Create the basic form with wire, wire crafting mesh, tinfoil, or whatever materials are to hand, then lay your sculpting medium over it. Check the interwebs for tutorials or even livestream-type vids of artists creating sculpts.Folly's Fantasies #43484 (she/her): Horses, straws, and eggs from my Doubleskunk tribute herd are always free.

I sculpt with paper mache and air dry clay, because it's cheap and the materials are readily available, plus you don't need any specialist equipment for drying the clay. I use wire or tinfoil for armatures, I've made a few ponies with paper stuffed toilet rolls as a base for an armature.
Have a look over on ultimatepapermache.com to see what is possible. Also do a google on Dan Reeder dragons, I think his site is called gourmetpapermache. I have his book, it's awesome.
