I shouldn't be alive today (car accident)

Hey everyone, just posting as a PSA to drive sensibly in the rain.
I was almost home from work last night and making a left turn I've made many times before. It's tricky because the intersection is on a hill and you can't really see the oncoming traffic, just their headlights. So i thought i had enough space to make my turn, but the driver going the other way was going 60-70 in heavy rain and hit me.
Car is totally obliterated. I made it out with only a dislocated shoulder and more bruises than i can count. I was so lucky. Everyone kept saying if anyone else had been in the car they would have died on impact with the way the car broke - the front driver seat was the only thing still intact.
So please, drive carefully in the rain. If you can't tell someone's speed, stop and wait for them to go. And PLEASE drive sensibly for the road conditions.

Geez, that's scary. I'm glad you're in one piece.
An excellent PSA. <3ID# 25784 -
Glad you were able to walk away from that. That sounds so scary! Rest and heal up.

I'm so glad that you came through that with only minor injuries. I hope your shoulder recovers quickly, and that you don't have any long-lasting left over fear from that terrible crash. Driving at night can certainly be tricky.
I'm getting old enough that I'm beginning to have trouble seeing in the dark, especially on the unlighted country roads I'm usually traveling on. So far I've been safe, but I had a weird experience in late July, driving home on a road that I travel several times a week, sometimes every day. It was dark, and I suddenly was convinced that I had missed the left turn onto the road I live on. I knew that there was another left turn I could make that would bring me around to the other end of my road, so I wasn't worried. Much to my surprise, I suddenly noticed and recognized, high on the left side of the road, the Springfield Baptist Church, which told me that I was still nearly a mile from the turn onto my own road. I still haven't really figured out why I felt so lost that night.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
