Hey! I’m glad you’re back, it’s good to see you again! I recently came back too! So what I did was salvage what I could from what was still alive, discard the lines that didn’t have enough to keep going, snip a whole load of stuff and create a solid handful of ponies and buy a handful of pointed creates to help boost my dying show herd, and then from there decided what I wanted to do, whether that was continue some lines or start clean.
Personally, I condensed about five of my lines into my bootstraps, and only kept two other lines. A rehaul of barn organization was helpful too. I also had enough IVs stored up from checking in every so often that I was able to pick up a new 1000 stall barn that I plan to fill with more show ponies.
Then I sorted what was in my freezer (I’m selling a ton of hoarded straws from old goodies right now) and implanted a few embryos.
As of right now, everything is in order and I’m more or less fresh and ready to continue. Only thing left to do is sort through my show ponies to sell off the older leveled off ones in auction, and I have plenty of space so that’s something I can take my time with.
Once you’ve decided what you want to breed for, let me know if I can be of help! I’d be happy to give you plenty of straws and eggs, and some show ponies too!ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask! -
Welcome back! I'm not sure I have any advice for starting over, but I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you might have.

Welcome back! A couple of months ago I came back after a real-life year or so away. Most of my horses were quite old the youngest horses in their mid teens. I took all of my upper gens and put them in a bootstrap pasture. My best remaining horses I cloned.
I haunt every auction and sales board looking for anything worthy tossing in a show herd (read anything with a PT above 9) or use for breeding. I picked up lots of bootstrap stock to help generate show horses. I have hit foundation rescue, everywhere and anywhere I could find a horse. I tried (mostly unsuccessfully) to fill in missing years, but for the most part I have been buying high PT foals as I know 5 or 6 years from now they will start to pay off.
I also cut down to three lines (KitM/KP/Satin; Snowflake; Fantasy) and spoiled myself by building a few nice foundation stallions. I have a few gen 2 - 5 coming along from my old lines, but for the most part I am rebuilding from the bottom.
This past month was the first month where I did not have greater than half of my horses at risk during roll over.
Good luck! If you need anything and I can help, let me know.Thanked by 1Lallyhop -
Welcome back!
Ask around for available ponies with fun genes on them. Feel free to look through my barns. I have a bunch of studs that I probably won't use. -
I start over a lot I feel like. I own all the closed genes now and that was my goal so now I'm just breeding fantasy liver horses well mostly but I'm only at 5G lol cause I keep adding new genes if you wanna use any of mine let me know I have a huge mare and stallion sale going on right nowWolfgang Pride ID 554

Welcome back Best Friend! I have missed you! If there is anything I can help you with just let me know. My barns are a handful of chaos because of life and kinda half doing everything on here for about a year... But let me know if there are spells you would like for show barn or non spells you would like me to test to see if they are worth breeding. All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

Nice to see you again. I have more breeding stock than I need if you want to peek at my barns for anything you might need to restart.45120

Thanks guys. It has been a hectic few days here for me. Then last night my horses got out so had to wrangle them up. I am entering everyone I can in shows and working on getting my hbs back up to where they were. I am slowly moving through my barns and seeing who I nees to save. My one line that I am concerned about is my Halloween Dancer and 4g Joeys Dream descendants.

I took 14 months off... and I literally had to restart. Everything was either SUPER elderly or they were just getting ready to retire. I used the old ones, bought studs to match... and then made a brand new GMT stud to start all over. I spent time and purchased all new foundation mares to work from and fill that 100 horse pasture. Anything that was too old was pulled out and shown. I also started setting money aside to purchase a handful of show ponies every week. I've reached my 50k/day show bonus, which I didnt think I would reach before this winter. My next goal is 75k/day. I'll have to buy a couple more show barns before that happens. I started at 25k early June, sat at 35k for 2 months then really put forth effort in finding some more.
Now I can play comfortably, and be really picky with my foals. I dont worry about selling a big foal crop anymore. If people want some, cool. But ultimately, I just run the extras through auction and they usually get snatched up that way. I keep all spelds for now.ID# 24891

I feel like I'm starting over. I'm putting all my GMT work into 3 lines of Creamsicle, Cherry Drop and Freaky Friday mares and I'm not replacing my foundation mares in pasture. I want to straw breed my foundation studs to dream mares and just do Gen 2 and up in pasture.
I'm hard culling studs this season and I'm pulling mares from pasture for sorting and culling before I breed them. Hopefully that will make pastures more manageable in the future. -
I think I took roughly 3yrs off once its a struggle but not impossible. I've gotten so much more strictWolfgang Pride ID 554

I’m in the process. I play with various cycles of intensity if that makes sense and recently was away from most of my accounts for the longest break ever. Surprised to find so many very old horses still in the barns to be honest! So I’m just sorting them all together in one barn and culling through what was left of the breeding lines, seeing what’s salvageable. I’ll probably combine some of what’s left into kind of a “legacy line” and get a new fancy herd sire to start new.
