* papered colt testing as good as A papered sire?
-
I am a bit confused since I've never had this happen before. The * papered colt is testing "as good as" his A papered sire. I've always had colts/fillies with higher papers test superior to their dams/sires. Does this happen often or is it just a fluke?

The sire is just a super high A, and the son is a super low star. Their levels overlap slightly so they test aga. It’s not that abnormal.
I get a lot of high blue mares that test aga golds. It seems to happen more often to me on the a/star and blue/gold line but it can happen anywhere. -
Thank you! I guess I'll either have to boost him or snip him. :-?

Remember that it is about as good as. A horse can be slightly better or worse and still test AGA. The star colt is just a tiny bit better, you know because stars are always better than A, but not enough to test Superior. I bet a 1 or 2% boost would likely make him test superior but being a star, he already is better.#28036
