Anyone ever experiance this?
  • I got my depo birth control shot earlier today. Less than an hour later I start having really bad reaction to it. Like really bad, it took 2 adult doses of benadryl to help with any of it. Thankfully it did however I still feel like I'm being poked with hundreds of hot needles. My neck muscles are in alot of pain and I have various muscle aches everywhere else. It's a 1 in 99,000 shot of having these reactions so its a long shot but if anyone has could you tell me how you've coped?
  • Oh no! I'm sorry that you've gotten that reaction out of your depo. I've been on the depo for almost... 7 years by now so thankfully I've never experienced anything like that before. But I do hope the pain in your muscles and the various muscle aches subside soon!
Birth control can be nasty stuff at times.
  • Oh no. Have you called your doctor?

I hate hormonal birth control, and it does not like me. I hope your reaction passes swiftly with it being a long acting shot.

  • Thank you guys! I did call my midwives. they had me take Benadryl and told me if the chest tightness didn't go away. It's a little better tonight. Corey still had to call out to help with the girls because my hands and joints weren't working right. Hopefully tomorrow will be even better. I don't like hormonal birth control either but unfortunately I get pregnant way to easily but ill be talking with the midwives to find another option.
  • I can not have hormonal birth control. I have terrible reactions to it. My husband got a vasectomy and now I no longer have to suffer from debilitating side effects. We women take too many sacrifices for our health.

  • I have trouble with hormonal birth control as well, just never this bad. However we aren't sure we are done yet so we don't want to do anything permanent until we are sure.
  • There is a non hormone version of the IUD. That thing made me so happy for the 5 years I wore it, and in and out were just office visits. Might be something to research.

  • Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the copper IUD and it ended up embedded in my uterus. I'm lucky I can have kids, they told me it was a big possibility I wouldn't have been able to! I'll figure something out though :)
  • The copper one is a really bad fit for many women sadly. With my health issues, I was strongly advised not to risk the possible heavy metal toxicity. I know a few who have had great luck with it though. :)

  • I'm so glad you were still able to have your kiddos after that. How are you feeling today compared to yesterday? I worried about you. Allergies are no joke.
