  • New Englander here - give her a warm cup of cocoa between her hooves, a good sit in front of the woodstove, and a stern lecture about frostbite and she'll be all right!

It's nice to be back! :)

  • Ohio here and trust me I do not like the cold. I drink a lot of hot tea in the winter. She is pretty though. Might want to look into some hoof and leg warmers for her. And I agree with HTRanch give her a stern lecture about frostbite and she will be ok.
  • We just got 5-6 inches of snow. That baby would fit right in here.

  • I live in NH. We're getting some snow tonight so I'll be driving in a winter wonderland on the way home from work, but my Prius was built for sunnier shores and the wiper fluid nozzles freeze up at any opportunity. I've had to pour straight from a jug onto the windshield and I feel like an idiot doing it. XD
  • Six more inches of snow here in Wisconsin early this morning. I'm going to bite the bullet for snow tires with my 40+ mile commute to work. My little Chevy Sonic does its best, but I think it's about as happy about the snow as that poor filly is!

  • @RoseFlute my wiper fluid nozzles dont even work, so i keep a spray bottle of deicer in my truck. It's quite useful in getting ice off the side windows and mirrors in a hurry. It's a little less conspicuous than pouring from a jug.

  • I don’t know whether to be jealous of you getting snow or happy we don’t have any. I live about 40 miles from Canada and all we have on the ground is frost and it’s nice and warm about 30 Fahrenheit. We usually have between a foot or three this time of year and are in the negatives for cold. This winter has been extremely weird for us.
  • @Haltanny I used to do that to get into my car when I was in highschool! My locks would freeze over while I was inside on my old Ford Granada (forest green with white leather interior), that car was awesome. It hated to run, but it looked like a gremlin. I would have to spray my locks to be able to unlock them and get into my car. I also had to plug it in at night so it would start again in the morning.

Did anyone else ever put a sheet or blanket over their windshield to keep the snow and ice off? Remember taking them off and having them frozen? But it was so nice to not have to scrape the windows!
  • @ChevalStables Yup, i keep one bottle behind my seat and one in my tool box in case to door freezes closed. It's happened once or twice! I never put a blanket or sheet on, but have used cardboard on occasion. Once my car was broken down and my dad wasn't going to be able to fix it until it warmed up (no garage at the time) so it was in the back yard under a tarp. We were getting ready to move and a snowstorm blew through and dropped 23 inches. I had to shovel the snow off the car to get the tarp off, then had to shovel a 44 foot path (yes, i measured) from the car to the driveway so my dad could back the trailer in the load it. I did the math once, i shoveled over 700 cubic feet of snow.

  • That is an insane amount of snow! That's a workout. I'm guessing you weren't cold doing that, though!
  • Lol Louisiana here, the whole state pretty much shut down when we got 6 inches a couple weeks ago. I've never seen 6 inches of snow here in my whole life until then lol. I felt like this filly looks.
  • I've never used the sheet trick on my windshield, but I usually put the windshield wipers up when I'm at work and we're expecting snow or ice. It's not great for the rubber to be frozen to the glass.

It's not that I object to the occasional snow fall... as long as I'm not driving while it's coming down. My issue is that it stays cold enough here that it might not start melting until mid to late March. After a while you start running out of places to put it all!

I do kind of enjoy making mazes in the yard for the dogs though.

  • Pfsue, we put tube socks on our wipers so they wouldn't stick during the day. I never had the sheet with me at work or school. Always had to scrape there. But at least my wipers were ice free!

Some de-icer in a spray bottle made quick work of the ice.

I have naturally curly hair, and I can't use a hair dryer even with a diffuser. So I would leave the house with wet hair. I also have extremely thick hair. It would freeze every morning. My brother used to hold my ponytail in different "styles" before we got into the car or walking to school using my hood.
  • Florida weather is a bit ADHD this year. Yesterday was NICE! Shorts t-shirt. Good breeze going, bout 70. Today brrrrr artic wind and cold like 50's and dropping will probably freeze tonight.
