I was thrilled to be able to get ice 9 which opened me up for straws my SS sent my way, I got this little fella, which did pass BA, but he tested worse than his sire. He's so dadgum pretty I'd love to make use of him, just wondering if I could get some opinions of if it'd be worth boosting him, or if maybe I should just wait til my own ice 9 herd finds its feet. My foundie i9 stud is still in the GMT/RGS works, but would have watercolor and other fantasy genes added, but is still a couple seasons from having fillies and colts to pass on genes.

I would vote to wait. Primarily because your stud that is still in the gmt works and won’t be able to be used for a few seasons, but this guy is also on the bench for the next few seasons. He is gorgeous, but since watercolor isn’t based on coat color, you may get one pretty similar that does test superior once your gmt boy is ready

With a five percent boost he would only be as good as or slightly better than his sire, as he papered lower. It depends on how aggressive with quality you wasn't to go. I would either turn into mare, turn into mare and boost, or geld this one personally (Turn into mare possibilities because he is so gorgeous, but not quite meeting wha I would use for a stallion... If you would like some ice nine boys I could look through my boys, but they don't have watercolor.

I would also wait because I like horses to test superior. That is just my opinion if I am going to GMT a horse. :)

Breaks my heart, cause he's so stinkin gorgeous, but I'd rather my quality of stock didn't suffer, even a gender change would likely not help much cause I have limited pasture space and only use it for my bootstrap girls. There will be more in the future, sigh.
