Closed! How does everyone else sort there barns?
-
I sort my bans by Het and Hom coat colors. How does everyone else do theirs? I am thinking of switching mine to coat color and Gen.
And here is a link to mine: https://hj2.huntandjump.com/member.php?uid=52125Fth Stables

Generation, Show and Sorting for barns :) Pastures are by stud, generation/paper or color depending on a line. Each horse gets a stud/line desgination, their generation and either SBA for SBA tested or NRS for nonrepeating sires as I transition over to all SBA and nonrepeats.Thanked by 1FancyThat

I sort mares by generation and if they carry lethal genes or not in barns. In pasture i break it down further into Fantasy + lethal, non fantasy + lethal, Fantasy + non Lethal and non Fantasy + non Lethal, with a special pasture for mushroom 2G and chimera 2G. Name designations i use are TOV for chinchillas, FUN for mushroom, MAC for macchiato, ONX for oynx, Choc for chocolate, LTD for multiple Fantasy genes. I also include lethal genes in names, so things like W1, W2, Olw, etc.
Bootstraps i sort by Era with an Era 0 line and an Era 3 line. The Era 0 line includes quite a bit of outside influences but the Era 3 line is probably 95%+ homebred from foundation level and includes some of the first horses i created here. I'm pretty proud of that line topping the Era 3 and Snowflake leaderboards often.#28036Thanked by 1FancyThat -
Barns are separated by generation for breeding stock. All my show ponies are jumbled together in whatever show barn has room for them. The bootstraps have their own barn. Mares move into the appropriate pasture by generation and line once they turn 3 but stallions live in the barns and earn points when they aren’t making foals for me.

With great difficulty.
Just kidding. Kinda.
By breeding line, mostly. Show barns have their own place. Breeding studs have their own barns, and I have sorting barns for those I need to find a place for. I have an RS barn for those I'm working on, or that are waiting to be gifted or placed in pastures when others age out. (I have an entire pasture ready to be replaced at the moment due to a new stud.)
I have a bootstrap barn and a couple of project barns. Basically I'm the only one that knows and can sort my insanity. However, anyone is welcome to look through it at anytime. I love to share, and I'm always open to suggestions.Thanked by 1FancyThat -
My barns and pastures are very much different. I use the barns to of course hold the show ponies, too.
Barns:
Future broodmares
Stud holding
Private sales/group I put together for a package deal
Auction holding
Show ponies
Pastures:
Foundation (Reds)
G2 Reds
G2 Blues
G3 Blue
G3 Blue
G4 Blue
G4 Gold
G5 Gold
Plus a bunch of extra that I'm not using currently.ID# 24891

My barns are only loosely sorted into mares, stallions and Show horses. However my pastures are all sorted by generation, and era, plus sometimes colourThanked by 1FancyThat

I have:
Primary - mostly a holding barn until they get sorted, also overflow until auctions run
Babies - where the babies go until they reach breeding age
Stud barn - where the boys go
Show - self explanatory
“What Is My Plan For You” - used to be holding before sorting, now it’s where my auction ponies go
All breedable mares go into pasture, unless there isn’t space yet. Then they sit in primary or babiesThanked by 1FancyThat -
Before I got rid of my barns for the ivs (hello BTA Line!) I Did it a little differently. I had a 15 or 30 stall barn for each of my lines just starting out (only about 4 horses in them), a 1000 stall barn for my altered show herd, a 90 stall barn for my show breeders, and a 250 stall barn as my auction yard so whoever was sent into it wouldn’t be in my way in my primary, which was used as my sorting barn.Thanked by 1FancyThat

3 mondo barns for mares, 2 mondo barns for show ponies, and a handful of smaller barns for studs and randoms lol. I use my primary for sorting since they all wind up there first

I have a group of show barns. A foundation stud one, 2 for lined studs. And I sort my mares by generation so it's easy to fill pastures. I was doing really good, but suddenly I need more barn space after 3 months of light rollover losses. I see a cull in my future.45120Thanked by 1FancyThat
