I have a GMT question

So I am thinking of having a Silver Bay with DP line. So would I need to start out with a Bay and then add 2 copy's of Silver would it would it be Silver Bay or do I need some other gene's? Thanks!Fth Stables

You only need 1 copy of silver for it to turn a bay into silver bay, but if you want to ensure the offspring turn out silber bay, you'll want to a horse that is homozygous for Extension, Bay and Silver (EE AA ZZ).#28036Thanked by 1FancyThat

If you’re thinking about GMTing, DP is more expensive than silver, bay or extension. So I would try to get a DP horse and then modify it rather than starting with a silver bay and needing to add DP.

Cherry Drops are excellent for that, they are homozygous DP and already have at least one copy of extension. Swapping the wild bay for regular bay is fairly cheap, and then a copy of silver is cheap. That’s only 2 GMTs to swap it to what you are looking for, unless you want homozygous.Thanked by 1FancyThat
