I Got Dumped off a Horse Yesterday.... Movie suggestions?
-
I had my worst fall yet off a horse. I'm basically stuck on the couch in the living room for the day. I did some hj2 stuff. But only have 100k which isn't a drop in the bucket for a GMT project, and I guess I have sorting to do. But I'm not in the mood.
Any suggestions of what to watch? I typically prefer something intellectual or action-packed, but Mom is trying to work in the other room and I'd prefer something quiet so no action, and I do hope to guilt myself into sorting some horses too so nothing too intellectual. I was considering buying the latest season of doctor who, but the first problem is the big TV is logged into someone else's account and I try to not spend money on media considering I'm supposed to be acting like a poor college student. lol. But through family members I have Netflix, disney+, amazon prime and hulu. (Yes I'm spoiled... Not that I've had time to watch ANYTHING in about a year now because of school hence why I don't even know what i like to watch any more).Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

Perfect thing to boost my spirits! Candy pony to send to my SS.

They like liver chestnuts, and have small barns and would prefer fewer large gifts than more small gifts. So maybe I could GMT this up a little bit, and send some show ponies? (I didn't do the previous gift exchange so I'm only in the smaller group)Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I got dumped off of my Mom's horse yesterday. The crazy thing is there actually is a race trained thoroughbred stallion that I'm getting paid to ride. But I feel safer on him than my Mom's horse. Which I have to be clear, my mom's horse means well and is a sweetheart and means well. But when he spooks and flips out it's not pretty. Even when he's being good I don't feel safe on him. However, we started him on calmex, and it made a HUGE difference. I was actually thinking about pushing to keep him again. This particular incident wasn't really his fault so I don't blame him. He moves like a really cute hunter so we've started him on jumps. Things were going AMAZINGLY. Picked up super fast. Then we tried a little bit higher every day. Then we got to the point where the standards couldn't be any higher as a cross rail anymore so it was that or a vertical. I don't want to consider the jump "high" as anything but. But considering he had less than 40 jumps it was too high. The first time was eh but he went over it. The second time was beautiful and we were going to call it a day. However other people at the barn saw us jumping and wanted me to jump in front of them. He got scared and refused. I'm usually quite sticky and although it made me mad wasn't a big deal. For the next 2 rides, he refused somewhat frequently. Then 2-3 rides ago it finally clicked in his brain again and when I trotted up to a jump he would actually ask to canter off and was enthusiastic. Well, we were gone on that trip for a few days. Mom and Lane bought me a super cool self-guiding camera stand for my phone. Long story but my horse isn't with me right now. So I decided to try it on, Joker. We were probably having the best ride we've ever had. Walk trot canter. Something DID bother him but all he did was look with interest and not try to spook. There were people on the property but no one actively watching me. I trotted, and picked his head up like we were going to jump. He acted super enthusiastic. Cantered off. So I was certain he was going to jump it. Then last minute he got scared and started refusing. (Which I could have had a bit more energy than I did have.) I was caught off more balance than I normally am. I don't know if he could tell I was unbalanced or what but he changed his mind and leaped forward. I was thrown backward. PUlled on his face. He did a low rear or high pop his front end off the ground. I slid behind the saddle. In my stupid panic mind, I thought I could pull him to a stop and then I could regain balance. Then I just came off the side. We are going to try a different bit for him. Mom and Carla (one of my trainers) both insisted that he had to have a baby curb on. But I loved him in my mare's English bridle (super super soft snaffle). So we compromised on a somewhat harsh snaffle. But I never got too bad of a reaction from him from the bit so I said ok. I have pretty soft hands and he never acted like he didn't like it. But then the other day Mom got to yanking on him a little bit and he freaked out. So they FINALLY agreed that we can try a softer snaffle on him.
So anyways I'm mostly mentally doing great. Have been saying I'd be grateful to be bored for a while now. But I'm a tiny bit disappointed with how this week is going. I had grand plans for this week. Ride 2-3 horses yesterday early then go to my Dad's by noon. Stay there 24-48 hours. Help with dump load with truck. Then go and take a lesson on my horse. (long story but I don't currently have her. One of my trainers borrowed her for a show). Then I was going to ride the horses at Carlas again and stay at Mom and Lane's house. Then I was going to take our new dog to agility practice. Then world is my oyster probably repeat but do whatever I want. By the time the truck started (different story) it was noon. Then the first horse dumped me. Then I spent the rest of the day trying to decide if I should go to an ER then deciding if I should leave the ER.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I don't know how you feel about baking shows, but I love watching Sugar Rush on netflix!
I'm also super stoked for the new season of the Mandalorian, but I've been waiting until after finals to watch it.
I know there's a couple cute christmas movies on netflix, too, if that suits your fancy!
And I've been slowly working my way through the x-files and supernatural on prime.
I hope your body recovers quickly!ID# 25784 -
I’m sorry it always sucks when you have fun plans that get changed last minute. Have you tried a epson salt bath? They always help me when I hit the ground or have an extremely hard work day.
I’m currently working my way through a show called Numb3rs on Hulu. It’s an older show, FBI crimes that they solve using math. Really fun, pretty clean, and not too gory.
Glow Up on Netflix was good. It was a makeup contest, kinda like cooking shows where they eliminate poor performers and such. It a more fun interesting show less serious. Personally it was a little emotional for me so I fast forwarded some parts and just watched the art or makeup parts. I find it funny I actually liked the show since the most makeup I wear is mascara and a lip tint on special occasions. -
Okay! Lots to try. Never heard of most of those, but I do love Mandalorian.
I did take a bath which helped, but I didn't have any epson salts.
I do love mathematics, so I'm sure I would love Numb3rs.
At first it was my hip that really bothered me, but that's why better and now I'm worried about my ribs. I'm really kicking myself for just not seeing it through at the ER the first night.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

My mental health is starting to plummet. I want to go back and ride..maybe not that horse but my horse. I hate doctors but the fact that I would be willing to consider going should tell mom just how much pain I'm in and I feel she should be running me there. I literally cant move and she wants me to do the dishes and stuff. I still haven't returned dad's truck and haven't told him I'm hurt. If I knew it was muscular of course I'd stretch and try to fix it then take some advil and go ride. But I think weird positions of stretching is a horrible idea of it is broken. My one shoulder is literally 1-2 inches lower than the other right now. But maybe my back is just out? Because I try to tense my muscle before I even try to get up and it hurts. Maybe try calling a doctor except mom is being unhelpful about that too and I don't technically have a primary care physician. I have a nurse practitioner I went to 2-4 years ago but that's it. I'm not upset at mom but I want to know if I'm safe to push through the pain and go ride. (Although considering even with advil I can hardly stand so idk)Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
Mom and Lane are both convinced it's muscular. And they both know more than me. But what if it's not?
I'm so mad at myself for not staying at doctor Monday night. Of COURSE I would feel better after 4 advils...
I don't know. Of COURSE I don't want to go to the doctor, but last night we made a deal if I wasn't better that we would go to the doctor, and I don't want to hold myself to that, but Mom's not helping.
Then I told Mom fine if its muscular, but what if its not? What if? And she was like you trying to tell me you want to go to the doctor. And I said yes that's what I've been saying for a day now. She's like you never directly said anything. And I'm like I just did. lol
This ENTIRE ordeal I haven't cried. Well almost once when I thought I should go to the doctor a couple hours after it happened and I was (trying) to get in the truck. I spend 10 minutes and tons of agony to get in the truck and then Mom's like climb out here and if you can't touch your toes your going to the ER. Is it just me or is that a bit silly? If I obviously can't even walk why should I damage myself by touching my toes. Anyways I somehow did it, but I almost cried. But now I am crying so much now I can't communicate to her at all.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
My little panic attack is finally over. I had only 2 advils and that was enough to take me from can't get up from a lying position to me walking around. I've talked to a few more people and done a little more research and I'm starting to get convinced its muscular too. Now just hard should I be pushing it?Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

So, I fell off a couple years ago and hurt my back - entirely muscular (sprained back). I had to completely re-calibrate my pain scale after the fall. I had to call a friend to pick me up from the barn because I was afraid I would pass out if I hit a pothole (and I am not a passing out/fainting person. Obligatory warning about riding alone, folks!). When said friend picked me up, I was able to get into his (low) car, but I legit could not get out of the seat without his assistance once we got to the hospital. So your pain sounds kind of familiar. When I started riding again, I fell off my first ride back (I would eventually fall in 7 out of 9 rides, three of them fairly serious... that was Not a Good Year), I pulled an oblique - the twisty muscles in your abs - so I was still in recovery from a back sprain and now had a hard time using my core to compensate. Basically, I feel your pain, I understand, and it sucks.
I would advise walking, stretching, yoga (if you already do it - don't start it if you're not used to it), hot soaking baths (truly the only time I was comfortable for about four weeks - even without salts I found it nice), back support pillow (if it's your back). I had a couple of different meds from my trip to the ER, but to be honest, I didn't see/feel improvement in my back until I got a steroid pack from a spine/back/sports doctor. If you can get to a sports injury or spinal (if it's your back like mine was) doc, I would highly recommend it.
For what it's worth, if it is your ribs versus a muscle, there's not much that can be done for broken ribs except wait for them to heal.

Thanking you FeldingFields. What you describe sounds EXACTLY like mine, so I'm feeling a lot better now that there's hope etc. Recalibrating your pain scale is a perfect way to describe it. But yes, its definitely my back, upper hip area.
The steroid pack is definitely a great tip. I'll ask Mom if she happens to know of anything similar here. I haven't but that isn't to say they aren't here. (More of a retirement community place with monopoly of doctors etc its a huge mess here).
I'm considering getting a jumping vest when I'm riding this horse, and every time I'm jumping. There was one online for only 50$ but no one seemed to think it was worthwhile. The brand that everyone recommended was 200$ which is way out of budget. But most people said it can be worse instead of better unless their fitted, but there isn't any place that sell them within 2 hours and I'm not planning on going to the big city any time soon especially since this is one of the worst places in the world for covid right now.
Although four weeks is kinda scary/bummer. That's most of my vacation/break.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
Yeah, it stinks that safety gear for horseback riding (or, well, safety gear in general) is so expensive. I don't think the new airbag vests need to be fitted, but they're also super expensive because they are so new. But yeah, the $50 one probably isn't really worth it.
As for the bitting issue, I actually really like soft curbs if they are ridden with two rein. If they are soft, you can ride them entirely off the snaffle rein and it's just like being in a plain snaffle. If you need a little more, you can pick up the curb rein and engage the leverage.
Regarding four weeks - I was also probably a bit older than you when I popped off and went back to work after two days (an office job, still) instead of resting. I didn't get the steroid pack until 3-4 weeks after I came off, but the hot baths helped in the mean time. I think it was the water supporting my back that felt so good.~Purveyor of the finest riding horses in Rakia~

I don't know. I'm trying to debate. Stuff doesn't happen until it happens. Lexi normally (actually always so far) has the scope to get out of anything I mess up. But if I go back to the cross country course near school again... There the jumps are bigger AND they are unbreakable cross country jumps.
Yea, his old owners rode him in a curb but best I can tell he HATES even a baby curb. Won't let me get on contact at all. And if you get after him he throws his head and threatens to rear often causing a bigger issue than the original issue. If that makes any sense.
I keep forgetting to mention to Mom about the steroid pack. She suggested a chiropractor and I looked into and found two that I think would be really good. Same day appointments etc but Mom has had a change of opinion stating that my insurance probably wouldn't cover it and "only if you really think it would help"
The bath was doing really well for me. But cooled down way faster than normal because my bathroom is super cold. Then I did some stretching. But I think I did too much stretching. My breathe got all funky and my eyesight got all funky and now even after more ibuprofen than I have been taking its almost as bad as it was this morning. :(. Still way better than yesterday and the day before though. I was thinking going to get my truck (which is still at the trainers) would be a good test of doing a little something but when I was supposed to go get the truck is when I got worse again.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

Oof, now that you have explained it more it sounds like the accident I had four years ago. I got dumped twice on a day we were moving cows, it was the beginning of the day and I ended up having to ride the rest of the day. Driving home that night was horrible, nothing helped with the pain. I went to work Monday i was a swim teacher at the time and I literally changed how I taught the kids because I didn’t have the strength to do anything. I had to swim in the deep end and it felt like someone was trying to pull my spine apart. I was in pain and trying to function, and I was Crabby, not something you can be when working with very young children.
I got a massage and called a chiropractor within a week. Only after seeing both did I start feeling better. The massage was the first time I truly didn’t hurt anymore, I actually dozed off on the table. The chiropractor appointment was the more lasting relief. The chiropractor took x-rays and I ended up seeing him twice a week for awhile then once a week slowly spreading out the appointments. I honestly don’t think I would have healed without the adjustments. However I wouldn’t go to a chiropractor who doesn’t want or see the need of weight bearing x-rays. A chiropractor who doesn’t take them is only fixing the obvious injuries, one with x-rays can fix the underlying issues that cause the pain. They would also know if it wasn’t safe to treat someone aka a broken or fractured bone. -
Oh wow! That really sucks. I can't imagine having to still do anything after an injury like that. Once I got out of my commitment to Dad I'm really fortunate I'm just on break.
Thankfully the chiropractor I was considering does have an x ray machine. But I'm starting to get a little concerned on how much it might be? The X rays might be hundreds of dollars alone? Then how much for an adjustment?
Today is the first day I felt a significant step better. Still hurts to do much, but my main concern is how one shoulder is still way lower than the other.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

Have a chiropractor appointment for first thing tomorrow. Talked to the lady and although she was extremely hesitant to give me a quote with my insurance its in the 200-300$ range. They do have an X-ray machine. Its in this area. So I think this will be good! I wish I would have done it two days ago but I don't know how I would have gotten in the car then.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

Hope you feel better soon! I've been really lucky with buckoffs/falls. I've been in tons, but most looked worse than they were. My worst was kind of a combo type, adding insult to injury thing.
I was boarding my horses at my friend's pasture down the street from my old house while we were building fence at our new place. I went over to feed one day and my mare flat refused to come up out of 9 horses. So I go to hunt her up on this 60 acre pasture on foot cause the whole rest of the herd is waiting to eat. Of course she's in the back, so me with my bright ideas, decides well, I'll ride her bareback up there, I do it all the time. She had a halter on and I had picked up stray baling twine on my way to find her, so I made reins. I jump on, Cross Creek, thru the woods, go over the hill, she finally realized what was up and kicked up to a gallop, no big deal, I've ridden literally since I can remember. We get just in sight of my brother, who had come to help me, when my chestnut heifer decides this is the ONE and ONLY time in her life to buck, at 15 years old. Well, off I come, pile drove the dirt with my elbow. My brother just about died of laughter, that was the first time he's seen me get shaken off lol. I couldn't use my arm for a month.
2 1/2 months later, at our new place, I let my Colt out on the paddock, he's 3 at the time green broke and has never made a wrong step or acted like a turd in the whole time I've had him. Great little appy dude with a brilliant mind, proud as hell to carry a rider type of guy. the only reason I called him green at the time was because he needed more rides to see the sights to see if there was anything that would bug him.
He takes off running around the paddock, manages to slip and slides completely under the board fence, gets up, shakes off, and hauls ass down the road. Thankfully we lived down a dead end Rd and all he was gunna do was run to the lake. My brother in law jumps in my truck while I grab a halter and lead and we go catch him. Hop out the truck get him caught, and have that same brilliant idea to just ride him back home. He did great til my bil drove back by revving the motor. Cash takes off, this time we're heading towards the highway. He wouldn't stop, so I started hunting a soft part of ditch to bail off in cause I'm not crossing the highway on this idiot. I picked my ditch and hopped. About the time I hopped, he swerved, into the road. This time I pile drove the pavement. With the same elbow. Cash immediately stops and turned around to wonder why I was not enjoying our frolick anymore.
My elbow still has times where it locks up and I can't move it, I couldn't hardly use it for close to 4 months, and I definitely should have went to the doctor lol. After that escapade Ive decided that maybe I'm a bit too old for bareback riding.
Hope this tale takes your mind off your pain, at least! -
How did your appointment go? I hope you’re feeling better.
The reason she was hesitant is because literally every insurance pays a different amount for each person. I’ve had one insurance company pay nothing for several people, then pay 70% of someone else’s bill. So it really just depends on your insurance/plan. Also some Aflac plans pay for some chiropractic. -
My appointment went really really well. Was there a full 3 hours though.... But they did like two different spine things. Like heat or activity or something like that. It was really amazing. On the side of my back that hurt there were tons of activity, and there was nothing on the side that was normal. And they took X rays. Nothing obviously broken but he's going to send it to a specialist and I'm going back on Monday and meet with him again and talk about my x rays.
After the test then they did two therapies for me. That alone made me (almost) stand up straight. Then the doctor made a couple adjustments on my back. Then I felt good enough to pick up the truck where it was abandoned at Carla's. I only had 1 ibuprofen all day. Although near the end when I was standing for her to charge my card, and when we were talking to pick up the truck my massive spasms came back.
I get my insurance through my step-mom. And it wasn't going to cover anything because we have a large deductible apparently. But Mom gets some insurance through her work and she's going to try sending an invoice to them. But we told the nurses at the chiropractor but forgot the doctor (as he was super busy) and apparently we were supposed to tell him so he could write his notes a certain way. Oops. Apparently Mom's work one is some kind of Aflac plan. So that's hopeful news. It wasn't unreasonable but if I could get that money back it would more than pay for a jumping vest....Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I'm glad the chiropractic appointment went well and you feel a little better, even if full healing will take a while. Insurance is a nightmare! Last year I had to get some shots for international travel and my insurance company completely lost my file, as in I didn't exist in their records for that span of time. So I had to spend $500 out of pocket for three shots, and that really sucked.
Your mom's horse sounds really sensitive. I wonder if there are some non-mounted activities that would be helpful for him to learn some self-regulation skills? Maybe some basic desensitization, or yielding to both pressure and draw? He sounds very talented! My gelding is picky about bits too - anything but a soft O-ring snaffle and he gets unbalanced and behind the bit with the barest of contact. I have a dog bone snaffle with a tiny 3" shank for the rare occasions we show, but he stays in the O-ring for everything else.

Oh wow. Yea, I believe it. I wish I had the solution for a better medical system though. There's issues with all of them.
Yea, Mom's horse is very sensitive. At least as far as his mouth goes. But for all of the rest of him it felt like somehow had read a wikihow on how to train a horse... I'm starting to figure him out though. Which is unfortunate because my Mom isn't particularly soft with her hands. Which is part of why her and Joker have had a few issues. Same thing with Lexi. Lexi does best the less rein pressure the better. To ask for her head I just widen my hands and if that doesn't work wiggle my fingers and she's in paint head set. But Mom just gets to seesawing a little bit and that doesn't go so well. So now Mom just doesn't do anything with her face at all and Lexi just does whatever. lol. Although "whatever" isn't necessarily bad.
Non mounted activities would be great. He needs help tying and riding in a trailer (loading in a trailer is fine). And he ties to a fence okay, but to a patience pole or cross ties and he freaks.
I went to a pulse therapy thing and I feel almost normal. Although Mom and I are kinda disagreeing on whether I should be resting or pushing it. I try to push it and I get the spasms, and something that feels like an electric shock deep in my hip. Sometimes the spasms are bad enough to drop whatever I'm washing at the sink... The more I stand the more and more it happens and along with a burning in my hip. I've been hurt before and am familiar with the kind of pain I should "push through" but I don't know if I should be pushing through this. If I sit down with a hot pack for 3 hours I can get up and walk around 99.99% for 10 minutes. But then once that time is up its up. Then the longer I go over the more it takes me to get back to that same point. But I mean I know nothing is broken so maybe pushing it is the right answer?Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

Wel over the weekend my x-rays did get sent to a specialist. He noticed two small fractures that the original chiropractor had not noticed. Whoops.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
Well now you know, which is good. I forgot about this earlier, my family uses Arnica gel for bruising, swelling, strains and such. It really helps speed up the process and dulls the pain, It’s a natural ointment. My mom has put it on my siblings broken bones right off the bat then gone to the ER and the dr has said they couldn’t have a broken bones, because they had no swelling and bruising, after taking the ex-ray he had to eat those words. I don’t know where your fracture is but there isn’t much they can do for a fracture in the spine or ribs. So it might be worth looking into, I also use it for burns and blisters, and it usually gets those healed in a day, it’s pretty much my go to when I’m in pain and need/want something to heel faster.
I know this is a total different type of ridding but a old cowboy by the name of Pat Puckett has a YouTube channel and goes over how he works through some of those issues on a older or already started bay mare and how he uses it on other horses too. He uses a very soft snaffle and a lot of seat steering. He doesn’t “Cowboy” them honestly I haven’t found a different trainer I like more he’s both soft and firm. -
Okay. Thank you. I'll go see if I can find that gel now!
Okay! I'll look him! Right now I'm dabbling in over fences because I love jumping, but I used to a little bit of everything including warming up horses for a roper.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

The chiropractor wants me to start coming a lot more often but I have a super high deductible from my step mom's insurance and my mom's insurance doesn't cover chiropractor. Do I go to my regular doctor? I was considering just not coming back after this but I was worse and the chiropractor makes me feel WAY better. Chiropractor advises against steroid pack and muscle relaxers because he says it interupts healing. Do I get a different opinionBreeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
Oof that’s hard. One thing to ask your insurance is if they would cover chiropractor if a regular dr recommends it for treatment. Sometimes it’s difficult to find out a regular Dr who sees the benefit in chiropractor but it would be worth a try. I work in a chiropractic office and have seen the difference it can make in people. He probably wants you to come in twice a week for a few weeks then once a week for awhile then once every two weeks and slowly take you out to once a month. When your bones get out of wack the ligaments that hold them in place slowly start stretching or shortening with that bone in the wrong spot. It becomes their new normal. If 4 to 6 weeks pass and it doesn’t get fixed your ligaments will believe that is the normal. When the chiropractor puts your bones back in the right spot, the ligaments will start pulling or be to loose to hold the bones in the right spot and eventually you’ll get pulled back out of wack. It takes 4-6 weeks for ligaments to shorten or lengthen. Which is why it takes so long to see lasting results from a chiropractor. But on the other side it’s definitely worth it.
You can definitely get a different opinion just know a lot of Drs don’t like chiropractic. So keep that in mind. Not saying that there isn’t risks with chiropractic, but medical errors are in the top five for death’s in the US. So nothing is completely safe. -
Wonder why doctors don't like chiropractors?
But yea I can see how the chiropractor can make a huge difference. The first day his pulse machine worked from bringing my shoulder from 2 inches lower than the other to almost even. (Although last time the electro thing really really hurt)
I'm going to suggest the dr recommendation to mom and see if she'll ask her insuranceBreeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
15552 -
Since I’m not a chiropractor or a Dr I don’t really know. But chiropractic can keep people from needing back surgery, which are huge paychecks for hospitals and Dr’s. Also there are risks that come with chiropractic, if you’re hyper-mobile chiropractic has a much higher chance of causing injuries than in normal people. So I could see if you have to deal with injuries caused by chiropractic and you think of them as cutting into your paycheck you might be a little against them. Shrug.
Everything in life has risks and we get to decide what risks we are willing to take. I feel us horse people understand that better than most. -
That makes sense. I guess it always does seem to be about money in the end.
Yep! That's true. I've always known the risks of horse riding. Even when I was little. But of course my Dad's being all upset about the whole thing. Surprised I didn't paralyze myself etc.
The first inevitable little squabble with Mom happened. I just feel like I'm not being supported. One minute she's agreeing with me that we can't afford to a whole chiropractor schedule, and then the next she's telling Dad about this whole routine. But then I go to ask what i should be doing and I get noncommital answers. Then I call her on it and she's like well that's on purpose. I'm like what the heck is that supposed to mean? But same thing its always been she's trying to play money games with my Dad. As it is my Dad actually IS in a better financial situation than my Mom (even if you take out the horses), but its also true that Mom spends money we don't have on horses so my Dad's like well if you're spending money on horses than you're rich because only rich people should have horses....
Which I don't know why I picked a fight now. Its too late all said and done balls in Dad's court on getting me a doctor appointment (he was supposed to give us an update on appointment time today), but I really feel like I should have gone to a doctor a long time ago. But Mom claims I never said that. Well I'll have to go back, but I'm pretty sure I wrote about it on here right after our little incident so I know that I said something! But then I was accused of being a wimp and we've all been dumped just push through! I know we didn't know about the two completely broken off TVP's then, but still! When have I been a wimp my entire life? I had a mare flip over backwards and trap me for crying out loud and I got back on right then and there! I will admit that a decent share of the blame goes to me. Mom and I have had issues communicating for a while now. But almost every 5 minutes she has a miscommunication with Lane and other people, and I rarely have miscommunications with other people so I really wish she would stop blaming ALL of the miscommunication on me.
Sorry for whatever it is I'm doing. Ranting maybe. But I'm just having a little mentally down minute.
But even when last week she didn't understand that I wanted to go to the doctor, because I never clearly said, I was like "This is me clearly saying!"
But then again there's no point in going to the doctor anymore, but I just had Mom yelling at me 10 minutes ago that HER insurance wouldn't do anything for me its all Dad's fault because its all his insurance (the truth is its his wife's but still).
So long story short, my Mom has no money, my insurance deductible is high, my Dad won't pay for it because its a horse thing so I'm going to have to personally pay for all of my chiropractor. And how much of it is their sales pitch on me needing to come to 36 appointments over a 22 week period, or could I get away with more like 8 appointments over a month period? (Not including all of the appointments I've already done). Everything I looked up said 4-6 weeks of healing.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

It's weird how this thread doesn't appear higher in my bookmark list as I read. It lists the last update as Dec 1st!
Well finally heard back from Dad. He can't get me an appointment because although our family is in there I haven't gone yet so I'm not in their system, and since its been too long its not an "emergency" anymore. But everything I looked up said that there wasn't much they could do anyway.
There's been a doctor shortage in my city for years even though it's a decent sized city because it's a retirement community and then there's a huge influx of people moving here. Then one big hospital thay had a monopoly on everythingBreeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
