Primary and Secondary DNA Sets?
  • So I've recently returned to the game and while creating horses, specifically the brindle creates, I noticed they have a primary and secondary dna set???
Why are there 2 different dna sets sometimes? Could someone please explain /clarify this for me.. thanks so much!

ie: primary dna set bay dun, secondary dna set amber champ dun

  • Ammit has introduced Chimeras into the game and these sort of (but not quite) replaced what we originally called brindles in the game.
The brindle phenotype still exists but our "brindle" HH and RS are all chimeras now.

As chimeras are the result of an organism being comprised of cells with more than one genotype the resulting horses in the game will have two sets of DNA strands to show this.

This linked discussion may help explain it for you:

Breeding for all version of black drafts using chimera foundations.
Help me build my black brindle army!
Always looking to buy B/Red foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.

I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me.

  • We also have genetic brindles in the form of Dun Factor Promoter, so if you see a color name that says brindle, that's what that is.

  • and--horses that were originally created as brindles before the chimera's became part of the game will usually have a "Convert" link by their color name so that you can update them to chimeras.
