Update to all who see this; It is with heavy sorrow that despite everything his dad did for him, including move him out and get him on his own, my husband's eldest son did not thrive and passed on October 4 due to severe alcohol abuse. I feel deep regret and remorse, and my husband is devastated.

Once my husband moved his son out a year ago), things were really good for all, but when the COVID shut down hit, my husband and I worked from home, got to know each other even better, and it was a honeymoon time for us, building our relationship. His son was completely isolated, and it took it's toll. His 30th birthday was less than a month ago, and that seemed to ice it for him. His mental health suffered and he drank more and ate less, until his pancreas and liver just gave out. His mom found him when she could not reach him. I can't imagine ever going through that.
I'm not sure how active I will be here while we deal with my family's grief.
