I got this horse in an auction but then another person who plays says I may not be allowed to have it because of its Genes. I did not think I would be able to buy a horse that I was not allowed to have. Is this horse ok for me to keep?

You are allowed to have him. While he looks like he has Thunderstruck (which does require a specific closed gene license) it's actually a tack pack item in play on your guy and the only fantasy gene he shows in his DNA is Nexus (shows on the Axiom gene as x) which is one of the few "open" fantasy genes (meaning no gene license required to buy it)

That horse has Nexus, which is an open gene. You may own it and breed to it.

Thank you! I was so confused! He looked like a brindle or something all tiny when I got him but pulled up big on my screen I could see his light white stripes. I did not want to be doing something inappropriate even if it was a glitch. Thanks again!

The game won't allow you to purchase a horse you don't have gene licenses for.
There's always the possibility of a glitch, of course. :) Yay technology.

@TennesseeRain2 you can also own ANY horse that is spayed or gelded regardless of how many closed genes you own and whether or not you have a license for the genes they have. A lot of people have super shiny show pony herds as a way to play with genes they don’t own the rights to breed. I, along with many other breeders of closed genes, am always happy to sell closed gene show ponies to anyone who would like to own a specific gene!

If you scan a horse's genetic info purple genes are the only ones that have rules about who can own it. :)
