Beginning Bootstrapping - What Colts To Keep?

    I'm pretty new to HaJ and I've slowly, almost accidentally begun a tiny bootstrap herd on the side. I've got a handful of pretty horses out of some phenomenal stallions up for public breeding, a few Blue mares, a *Gold mare, and a few A studs.
    Tonight I got my first *Star colt, and I'm not sure what to do with him, as he's only got a 11.20 PT score.

    I also have several A papered colts I haven't gelded yet, who have higher PTs.

    How should I go about picking which ones to breed and which to geld? I don't own their sires, so I can't comparison test.

    I would definitely pick the star colt for breeding, even if he has a lower PT than the A papered ones, since he is bound to be a much better producer.

    If you're interested, I'd be happy to give you this boy who should be a much higher star:

    I also have others but they are foals so won't be ready to breed next month. Their foals from blue and even lesser gold mares obviously will not pass BA, but should be stronger than the dams. I could probably also find you a few gold mares and fillies if you'd like some. Let me know if interested and if you have any preferences.
