Papered Breeding/Genetic Breeding
-
I have two lines I’m trying to breed for: hom nx and then Hom dp/gp/kp/snf. I’m wondering how the easiest way would be to get those genes while still keeping them in good quality/even breeding?
I’m thinking the nx I’ll keep ba-ing all foals since it only has one requirement, but for the other I was thinking of first getting the right genes into the foals then once I have a herd of them start ba-ing? Would this work? -
I would BA from the beginning. Either GMT your own stallion or buy straws/eggs from other players and use those straws or eggs to build a 2g herd and go from there BA-ing as you go. You can probably find straws with at least 2 of the 4 genes you are wanting, breed the offspring of those stallions together and you’ll start getting those genes in your lines.
If you can use eggs I have eggs from a mare who is hom snf, and kp. -
@BlaxkDiamond, thank you! I know it’s for the best in the long run, but only 1 out of 9 passed :)) that hurts!
-
It's usually easier to get them to pass at the lower generations, so I'd definitely BA from the start
-
I agree with what others have said - either do breeding advice from the start and stay with it or else go with more of a 'bootstrap' plan and just breed for the genetics. If you do the latter beware that if (in the future) you decide to start doing BA you may lose a large portion (or all!) of your herd depending on how you were breeding. The best part about this game is that there is no 'right' way to do things so just have fun! :)ID: 40723

And hey, if you need a head start.. Try getting straws from Studio Ponoc (or i think i have a couple foundation straws/eggs you could use, just PM me!). I also have some SBA passing stock that i can send your way. :)

Thank you all so much for your advice :) I’m going to start BA-ing all foals and watching for papers when buying/breeding. I’m very excited to have bred a filly and a colt with hom dp,gp,kp, and snf that have passed!
