Light muzzle and flanks but pangare recessive
  • I have re-rolled this guy a bunch of times but he still shows up with lighter brown color on the muzzle, flanks, and legs. What am I missing?

  • He is het pangare...

"Pangare lightens a horses coat, particularly around the flank and muzzle. Two large P's will lighten more than one large P, but how much can be random. Two small p's has no effect"

  • @SpryofJune his genetics show "-p" which should be recessive pangare and have no effect. It is my understanding that het would have to show "- P".

Furthermore, when I go to his GMT page there are all dashes in the Pangare field, indicating no Pangare. Maybe I need Ammit on this one :-(

  • You can notice somewhat of the same on this girl. She is het pangare also.

  • The blank by the small p is pangare. If he were actually recessive, it would be pp.

  • Pangare shows weird to me with the new genetics thingy.

  • Can you screenshot the GMT page?

  • So one small p is not het? This has me confused.

  • -- is homozygous, heavy pangare.
-p or p- is heterogeneous, light pangare.
    pp is recessive, non-pangare.

You have to remember pangare is wild type and "-" indicates wild type.

  • ♡ Thanks @Haltanny you were correct. So when I went to his GMT page, it was showing four dashes under Pangare (which @Haltanny pointed out is the wild type...must be something fairly new because before it was only PP, Pp, or pp). When I clicked on two of them, I was given the option of changing "-" to "p" so now he is fixed up the way I want him.
