It is hands down probably my favorite gene. I've got it everywhere now! I breed mostly silver bays/browns, and it's just so lovely on them. I think my favorite part about it is the range at which it can express itself, it can be so subtle or really noticeable! I love it with plain Dun, Onyx, and Sooty +, and it's great with Liver and Buckskins too.

Here are 2 of my favorite Liver girls with ND1, it just ever so slightly altered their overall colour and shading. I think it's so lovely!

I don't use dun much. It's not that I don't like it, but both dun and champagne (which I also like!) have a tendency to 'take over' in a herd. Also, I breed for 'the darker the better', so it kind of goes against my goals! BUT I also like ND1, so I have allowed it into my black liver herd, but jussst a tiny bit. And lookie at what I got this year! I LOVE her!

I love nd1. I especially love a strong expression on plain black horses. I had a foundation mare I sold that was absolutely perfect in that regard. I also really like it on livers and bays.

I love ND1. I collect Starry Eyed Suprise for one of my pastures and I add it on most of my foundation projects. It just adds such interesting shading without taking over the base colour
