Classic Champagne dapples
-
How do I try to breed champagne dapples
This guy is E/E a/a Sty/Sty Ch/Ch Dp/Dp wf:non
BV 3960788
Almost identical except no DP and hom splash
CP1 Thyliase 133
Identical to the 1st horse except 1 copy of prl
BV 3960784
And identical to the first horse! Is dapples like brindle? It’s random?
RFA A Titania III51430 -
It's random. If you reroll the picture you might see some dapples on the first horse. DP greatly increases the chance on champagne horses, and I've found you almost need it to see the dapples. Or sooty plus, but I'm still playing with it.Thanked by 1HiddenGenetics

@ChevalStables oh hoho, I forgot about the reroll!
So classic champagne doesn’t care about sooty apparently
S/S = dapples
S/sty = dapples
Sty/sty = dapples
So wonderful I found some sure fire dapples.51430 -
Pearl doesn't really dapple out strongly unless you have both sooty and hom DP involved, then you get ones like this boy, who I haven't yet bred even though I love his looks and his lines because all my 2gs are papered higher. lol He's mostly a template for what I want to do with one of my DP foundies.

This girl is het DP and you can see how much less the dapples show.

Pearl with hom sooty and no DP at all. I had to hit the open search for this one, I couldn't find one in my herd with no roan or Lp to hide the base. :))

I'm not sure about champagne, I don't breed it much, but I know when you start adding in other dilutions you don't see strong dapples very often without DP, or at least I don't in my herd, and I have a metric ton of pearl dun and silver pearls. lol~*~ Justa ~*~

I have a ton of champagne, but most of mine are sable, so I'm not 100% sure how that changes things?
-
@Ren how do dapples show on your herd?
-
@ChevalStables I just want a strong dapple for my watercolour here once water colour pops up in rgs. I am working on a brown line that I would love to be dappled just unsure I can justify 1m hbs to hom dp some horses.51430
-
Water color is gorgeous with sooty plus and DP. @Cheers has some amazing horses that show dapples in watercolor.
I love sooty plus buckskin and silver buckskin with DP. They show beautiful dapples.

Have you seen silver brown with DP and just sooty? That could be a possibility. Gorgeous dapples.

Oh my goodness she is perfect goal achieved silver brown dp with watercolour :x51430

I know you don't wanna spend that many hbs on DP (or S+), but here's my foundation watercolor stallion that is bay, with hom DP and hom sooty plus. I have a mare that's also bay, hom DP, hom S+, and watercolor, but she also has plaid and lace and that hides her dappley goodness.

I wish I could but my account only had 1M hbs and I’ve been trying to hunt down 3rd gen to 5th gen with those goodies instead to breed into my lines further down the track. Atm I’m only on my 3rd gen who have a few months before I can get to my 4th it’s painfully slow however all the high gems 4th-5th gems are temporary Bootstraps for me51430
-
Lol, that’s why I ended up going straight for bootstraps after a couple months! I still have an even bred herd or two, but bootstraps are where I throw all my favorite shinies. If you ever want straws for cheap, let me know! I’ve tons of high papered stuff floating around with all sorts of shinies.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! The majority of my champagne herd does not have dapples, in fact they are pretty few and far between. Those that do show dappling are usually my sables. I don't reroll for it either though as I prefer the look of my champagnes to be solid/no dapples. :P My favorite dapple horses are those that are silver brown DP like @ChevalStables said. :3
A couple of examples of dapple in my herd that I had to hunt down. lol

I’m working on a line of DP silver chocolate bays which should be pretty dappled eventually.

If you look closely, this silver amber champagne in that line is lightly dappled.

In general, sooty/DP genes and silver both increase your likelihood of dapples and the more of those you combine the more likely you are to get dapples (assuming, of course, that you don’t have lots of white markings to cover them up). S+ offers a different kind of mottled dappling that isn’t as clean as normal dapples. However, it offers it much more reliably so if dappling is super important to you, adding S+ to the line is more likely to give you consistent dapples.

I do find that my sables have a lot of dapples, like @Ren said. It's one of my favorite things about that line. :xThanked by 1HiddenGenetics
