I bred a black stud with a grullo mare and got... liver?

I don't breed for non-grullo dun, but I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in her before I snipped her for the show barn.

You got a liver because both parents are Het for the red gene (Ee) (ee makes red based horses while Ee or EE make black based horses) and because at least one of the parents has DP :)

And now that DP is displayed, my suspicious about the stud are confirmed... this is not the first liver baby he's thrown.

However, it turns out the dam is het as well, and this baby is Hom DP.

Last call for this kiddo - I'll snip her for the show barn on Friday.
