The genetics page needs a major overhaul. I can’t expect ammit to do it all so I was wondering if with you help I could create a thread.
Do you guys have any before/after of your horses getting genes?
What I’m thinking is having a basic set
in all the standard colours - black, bay, brown, chestnut, liver, white, red Dun, grullo, palamino,
So it would be laid out:
Black - E/E
Pearl:
Nacre:
Sabino 1/2:
Kitm:
Chinchilla:
Silver:
Ect ect I’ll go through the search horses and find most of them but it would be great if you had like a wow horse before and after example wrong warp and how it react or watercolour nexus ect ect. Thank you :) If this has been done please give me a link because I need to favourite that!51430 -
Looking up specific combinations is why we have the search. There are probably thousands of unique combinations of genes so a page like that would be very unwieldy anyways.ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)

Not really I don’t know what a horse looked like before nacre or water colour wrong warp and I don’t want to commit to certain things as I’m scared to waste money on something that won’t look right :) I’ll make my own collection then and just put it in my private google documents. Chinchilla is a great example I hate the way it reacted because there was no information on the gene page or the genetics page and not enough help in the horse search51430Thanked by 1WolfDen

HiddenGenetics, I think that is what you can do with the search as a preview- maybe not on the exact same horses but you can get an idea of what certain gene combos would look like.
With chinchilla, you could take a horse you have the base genetics for.. for example..
Suppose I want to do a silver brown chinchilla project but don't know how that base would look then how it would react with chinchilla. I would then go to the search page and set parameters for a E_ AtAt or Ata (because A/A+ are dominant and would override). I would also select "Show at least one copy of silver (Z)" and 2 copies of Sooty or Sooty plus because I know I don't want any of my horses without sooty.

Okay I like that base color! Let's see what happens if I put chinchilla on this kind of base- add chinchilla to my search parameters.

And wah'la! A before and after of the same basic color. I think part of it is just playing with the search parameters and experimenting with a base color you like and adding different stuff to it to see what happens. That is how I learned to navigate through the search and decide on my lines. It does help to have a basic understanding of the base colors and what the modifiers are/do to the base coats then you can build off of these. That is what the genetics guide is for and I can tag you in a few GREAT posts that talk about the different colors/spotting patterns and what they look like if you want. You could then use those as springboards for your project ideas and add/subtract different genes in the search to get an idea of whether you like it or not.Home of the:

It’s fine :) I suffer with my consequences lmao I just keep throwing stuff together my lines are unique and I like it different :)51430Thanked by 1TheBlueMoors

That's a great idea @TheBlueMoors! I'd never thought of doing that, but it would work. I don't have a great grip on the base colors yet but I can use horses I like as examples and learn.IAM WolfDen #50695

@HiddenGenetics this thread doesn’t touch many of the fantasy genes but it covers most of the regular genes.
