What is the best way to gmt
-
I’m about to gmt my two babies however Some genes can only go on strand one or strand two. If I put both say chinchilla strands on strand 1 that is a higher chance of throwing chinchilla baby or do I put stallion on strand 1 and mare on strand 2 ? I just did a total and my good god can I get a fake receipt from Amit please because good lord mercy my boyfriend going to yell at me “but pretty pony’s”51430

You have to have Chinchilla on both strand 1 and strand 2 to have the highest chance of it passing to the foals. If you put a single strand on a foundation theres only a 50% chance of it passing to the foals, but if you're patient you can breed homozygous or double strands by the fourth generation.Thanked by 1HiddenGenetics

Chinchilla show when it on both strands. If you are only adding one strand to each horse it won't show on your foundations, but everytime you breed them you will have a 25% chance for a homogeneous foal.
I personally added 2 strands to the stud so I would have chinchilla babies at gen 3.45120Thanked by 1HiddenGenetics -
Chinchilla is also a homozygous recessive gene, meaning only horses that have two copies of chinchilla will display the effect. So your best chance is to GMT a foundation stallion to be homozygous (meaning one copy on strand one and one copy on strand two). You could GMT a foundation mare to be heterozygous (one copy of the gene on either strand one or two) or homozygous in order to have a chance at getting a homozygous colt at gen 2, which will increase your odds at homozygous gen 3 foals. But...money! There are also some chinchilla foundation mares that other stables own that you might be able to purchase eggs from if you aren’t able to GMT a mare (if you have a premium upgrade, you must be a premium member to use eggs).Thanked by 1HiddenGenetics

Ok the way I understand your question is you’re putting one chinchilla gene, on each of your two horses, and you’re asking if it matters which strand you put it on.
If it wasn’t answered before it doesn’t matter which strand you put a gene on your chances for a homogeneous foal will be the same regardless. -
I used chinchilla as an example as it was the first gene to pop into my mind here is a different example.
If my stallion is e/E a/a D/D he is a grullo my mare is e/E a/a D/D she is also a grullo now because I only have the dominat black gene on 1 strand will my foal also be e/E a/a D/D? Or could my goal have the chance to drop that capital E into a lower case e?51430 -
Yes, if both parents are e/E D/D, you will have a one in four chance of an e/e D/D foal, which will be a red dun. :)~*~ Justa ~*~
