Sort by paper doesn't work?
  • I was wondering if anybody else had this issue? But when I sort horses by their paper level, it doesn't actually sort by the highest? Say I have a horse that is superior by a landslide that is a star, he isn't even on the first 2 pages of the sorted by "best paper" option. I wasn't sure if I just wasn't using that sort option properly, or if it just won't differentiate between percentages in those categories.

Say a sire who comp tests worse than his son will be higher on the "best paper" list than the son.

Also, if this option doesn't work, any suggestions on how to benchmark mares without spending all my cash comparison testing every gold in my barn? haha.
  • I think after it sorts by paper it sorts by create date. Say the Sire is created before the son, but they both paper Star, the Sire will show up first.
  • The son is superior to the father, so should be higher on the list to my understanding. So the son is technically a higher "Star" than than the father. That's what I don't understand.
  • The default sorts by create date. As they are both Stars it will sort by that and then create date...at least mine does.
  • I don't think the system has a way to differentiate a low star from a high star. It just knows "star us higher than A", etc. It really can't go off of "superior", because they can be superior and still be the same paper, or be AGA and be different papers. (I.e, C/B could be AGA)

  • Yeah, it doesn’t sort by percentages at all, that’s a hidden number so there’s no reason for search to completely negate the need for comp testing, lol. Chrystal is right, it just sorts by paper alone, then by gender, then by create date/ID - star, gold, a, blue, b, red, etc.

As for figuring out your mares, I’d recommend comparing the AFPT of mares that have been bred equally, and of course factoring in desired genes and etc. You don’t necessarily want a “benchmark” mare like you do stallions, just for your total herd of mares to increase in quality with time. AFPT and desired genes are my first two markers, followed by occasionally the PT of the mare herself (which is not necessarily related to their breeding ability but can also be a good culling point).

  • That sucks because it basically makes it primarily useless ^_^ all well.

Now that I know that sort by paper level doesn’t work I’m going to have to come test everything because I have no other way of knowing where my mares actually line up in paper value, since I have so many and just assumed paper value worked unless I was screwing around with my studs ^-^ I just resorted pastures due to the pasture glitch afpt is useless to me. I had multiple pastures of bootstrap, hundreds of mares and they are all intermixed now ^_^

Just gonna have to bite the bulletin and start comp testing because now I have no other way to find out their actual paper levels. ^-^ rip.
