Breeders Clubs...No DP?
-
We have three non testable genes...Kit Promoter, Snowflake, and Dense Phenomenon. The first two have their own breeders clubs - why doesn't DP? Just curious...HJ2, Forest Server Player ID#25193 - DoubleMash2 Sunalta (Main breed), Khan Chocloate line of Pura Raza Española, and *new* Kilkenners line of Irish Draft. If you are looking for straws/eggs from my stock, please feel free to message me.

It does! It’s “liver” :)
-
We actually have 4 non testable genes with the fourth being Gulastra Plume.
While Liver is sort of a DP club, horses that don’t fit the very narrow criteria of the liver group may still be expressing DP. DP is stunning on bay, wild bay and brown for instance and none of those horses are eligible for the breeders club. Learning to recognize DP on horses other than liver chestnut, liver red dun and chocolate palomino can be a very helpful skill to have!Thanked by 1DoubleMash2 -
This link discusses DP in normal bay

And this one discusses wild bay variations

Yes, and we are using the phenotype to determine dp in none livers, whereas horses who don't phenotypically show snowflake, or frame, or what not still show up in those clubs...
You may not choose to have a club, but there is a very decreeable and bred for phenotype in the non red based horses as similar to non dp horses and liver is for chestnuts, so it very much is a certain genotype thing, not a phenotype thing.
