Question How White Factor Functions
-
Is white factor a cause or an effect?
For example, is this guy White Factor: Large because he has the Kit20, sabino, and splash, or is he White Factor: Large causing the large white presentation from them?

Is he more likely to pass on higher White Factor to offspring?
I feel like, looking at my collection of single splash, no kit horses that White Factor is informing how much white to map, but I can't figure out where Extensive White Factors keep popping up from.

In my herd usually it's the w20/sabino combo that makes them mostly all white, with white factor not affecting that combo very much. Minimal or extensive, they usually come out with a ton of white.

Yeah, I've seen the phenotype before. His sire and his dam are both White Factor Minimal, and he's large. I'm trying to figure out if he just inherited the top of both their ranges (light height or bone would work), or if it's just 100% due to that fact that he has three white genes.~Purveyor of the finest riding horses in Rakia~

I've started wondering how other genes might affect the White Factor as well. Like how Sooty and S+ tend to make Appie spots bigger. The Dun and Silver are lightening genes. I wonder if they augment the factor with the actual white genes.Thanked by 1FeldingFields
