Comparison Testing
  • If a colt is higher papered then his sire there is no point to comparison testing right?

  • There is an overlap in the papering so a higher papered horse could comparison test as good as their sire but by being the next paper level up it is indeed superior even if it comparison tests AGA

  • Say a horse needs to be 4 points better to be superior, a B papered stallion might only be 1 point better then his C papered sire. Because sire was a high C, and son a very low B. So he would only test as good as, not superior
  • It's always good to keep in mind that when Dr. Junior reports that "... is about as good as...", the answer does not imply "exactly as good as." It means that the horse being tested has a breeding score that may fall into a range from "a little bit worse" through "exactly the same" to "a little bit better."
De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
