By yumming your low PT foals, you are not getting an accurate picture of how well your mares/stallions are performing. If you consistently get a mare that throws lower PTs, she’s probably not worth keeping as a breeder, since in lined horses the PT can be linked to how well of a breeder a horse is. Example: I have three even bred third gen mares from the same line. All get the same pasture bonus, bred to the same stallion each season. The first mare has an AFPT of 11.5, the second mare has an of 11.2, and the third mare has an AFPT of 10.5. They have all had 4 foals, and the AFPT represents all 4 foals. In this example, I would be replacing the third mare with another one instead of just yumming the foals, since she’s consistently throwing a lower PT score than the other two.

You have to compare apples to apples though. Comparing a mare that is not pastured to a mare that is pastured will not give you an accurate idea of how they are performing. None of my “egg mares” are subject to AFPT comparisons, since I know they will almost always be lower.

yes it does Maribo. i forgot which account it is, but there is one that rescues horses with a decent PT score or paper level.

Well, I did, but somehow I thought that stopped when the private auction stopped.
