Hey Ammit,

As requested, I am posting a bug report on my account experiencing Consistently long load times when using barn pages and opening horse pages. No other pages are affected and these pages generally take tens of seconds to load completely.

If it makes a difference, the central section of the page comes up first and quickly, then the page seems to stall while the navigation menu bar on the left comes up. Once the left menu bar fully loads, the the right announcement bar comes up and resizes the central secfion.

From my point of view, it is definitely the left navigation bar that seems to gum up the works, but that doesn’t really make sense as it doesn’t take a long time to load on any other page—forum, horse search, buddy chats, etc.

I am a big barn with a lot of horses, many of them unopened because I’m such a big barn...if that is the issue I can issue a plea to the troops to open ponies...

I play primarily on my iPad using Safari with a regularly cleared cache—probably every 2 weeks or so—and on wireless internet in a variety of locations. My load speeds are not appreciably faster or slower in any location or on any network.

I logged into your account. Your load times are considerably slower than mine though it still only takes a few seconds for me.

The left navigation bar is irrelevant in this. It loads after the thing that is being slow, it appears instantly after the slow part.

I can probably do some digging on this later this week.

Thank you Ammit! It seemed a little faster yesterday but I haven’t checked yet today. It doesn’t help that the NBN project in Aus has caused a lot of congestion and slow speeds anyway. I will be visiting the US in about 10 days and can report back then if that would be helpful.

Looking deeper into this morning and I see that for some reason your tack store tab is very slow. Slower than mine and I have all the tack. Not sure what is going on.

It takes 1.06 seconds to load on one of your horses and 0.04 seconds for one of my horses.

What I am seeing is that your barn is so excessively large that handling the lists of horses you have is slowing down your page load times. It's not our database, it's the physical limitations of how fast your computer is. You can only list so many things in a dropdown before it causes slowness.

I don't think I can fix this for you. At least not without massive specialized systems programmed just for the less than 5 of you with barns this big. The fact that it is as fast as it is, is actually really impressive.

Thank you for looking Ammit. I’m in the US now and the load times are noticeably quicker so part of it is just Australia’s crappy network speeds.

Any chance you could give me an estimate of how much I would need to shrink to see a difference? I’m willing to acknowledge the barn is way too big.

It's hard to say. At half the size you would probably see about a second of load time increase.

Once Haystack is back in town and I can see if he can do something with the javascript. It's the number of horses you have with tack on and tattoos on specifically that is causing the slowdown.

Mine is super slow as well. When I try to open a horses page and then try to name one it takes for ever to get to put the name in. I'm using chrome browser its faster loading when I use Microsoft Edge. It use to let me name horses while the image was loading. Dont know if Cheers is experiencing the same kind of thing.

I get the slow loads too, on an android phone with Chrome. I have just over 5200 horses.

Everything load fast as normal except individual pages when I'm trying to name horses.

@Skylight ya that definitely falls into the excessively large size catagory. We can try to look into it in the future but there are straight-up limitations to the speed of your browser and computer that are hard to overcome.

I could put in an option to completely hide tattoo copy and tack copy, and comparison testing dropdowns. That would remove using them for you (unless you turned it back on) but would greatly improve your page load times.

Ok, go to your Member Home Page and open the Account and Stable Management bin. Then click the new button called "Turn Optimization On". This will disable Comparison Testing and Tack/Tattoo copying until you turn it back on.

Thanks Ammit that worked. Its back to how it use to be. :) I can open a foals page and pretty much instantly go to the control panel and enter a name.

Thanks for your hard work. I'm going to work on down sizing a bit.

Thanks Ammit. I’m on vacation and not playing right now but appreciate the work. I will work on getting my account under the 10k mark and probably quit tattooing all my homebreds.

So..... I’m back and thinking about this. If my mass tattooing of all homebreds with my daffodil tattoo and then further tattooing and tacking of my breeders with gene marker tattoos and tack to indicate high performers is part of the problem....is there a way for me to mass remove tattoos from my herd? If not I’m looking at the full lifetime of my current 2 year old herd before I had no horses with tattoos left in game.

And yes, @ConfluenceFarms the purge is beginning!
