What causes the patches of lighter colors??
  • I was wondering if someone could tell me what causes the white ish patches and how I could breed for that image
    Jesters Judgment35689
  • Kit Promoter I Think

  • That is Kit Promoter or KP as it is affectionately called around here. It is a hidden gene so you can not test for it and it requires the horse have two kit genes and be hom KP for it to express. In this case Jester has two W20 and is hom KP allowing it to be expressed. Only horses who express it can be registered in the Kit Promoter Club. It will not occur on normal creates so if a foundation horse has it the owner either GMTd it on or added it from the RGS which is the only way to introduce it to a line initially. Since your boy is Hom KP he will automatically pass on Het KP, breed him with other Hom KPs to guarantee a Hom KP, Het KP you have I believe a 50/50 chance of the baby being Hom KP but even if bred to a non KP horse his offspring will be Het KP and have a chance of throwing KP further down the line when crossed with other Het or Hom KPs.
    Dabbler in EVERYTHING.
  • This is a thread I started that shows some of the many variations of hom KP too to give you an idea of how it can express.

  • You are very welcome :) And in case I wasn't clear, I'm second guessing myself on my clarity above, it can be any combination of 2 Kit genes, so roan, tobiano, any of the Ws (20,2,3,1,8,10) or sabinos. So long as both kit genes have something and the horse is hom KP it will express/horse can be registered in the club. They do not have to be the same kit gene.

  • How do you get Hom KP into your lines? If you can't test for it, how do you find horses that have it?
I breed for Spotted Drafts that could actually be registered in real life. I like them to be Black, Creamy Black, Gray Black, or Grullo and the horse has to have at least a 2inch square patch of white above the knees/hocks and not on the head. I am hoping to get some really unique color combinations. ID# 50732
  • @Drafts26 KP doesn’t spontaneously occur in game, so the only way you get it is you buy it in the GMT lab or the RGS sale, or you buy into established lines that already have it. It’s a pretty common line people breed so just have a search around for it (put Kit Promoter in the Breeders Club slot on the Horse Search and then restrict your search from there). It’s important to be careful about what Kit patterns and other patterns (splash and frame) you mix into a KP line too avoid Kit Lethality. If you’re not aware of that, there are links that discuss it and I can link the main one here.
  • I usually have a lot of 2g fillies that are het KP, meaning they don’t have the cloud but if you breed them to a Hom KP stud you’d have a 50% chance of the foal being Hom KP. I usually spay about half of my fillys but I could keep a couple for you for next month if you’d like? Same with a colt. They wouldn’t be hom KP but it would be a start.
  • I’m just now seeing this, @BlaxkDiamon! I would be interested if you have extras!!
