This is heartbreaking.
  • So Sophia isnt feeling too good today, and she signaled wanting to nurse. Which I cant because the meds that I'm on for my thyroid :-(( and at this stage its frowned upon any way because she hasnt nursed in 5 months because of my low supply (I've got graves disease, which caused low supply.) She absolutely didnt want the bottle or the bink and she cried herself out while I held her. It's just not safe for her to get any of the tiny bit milk I'm still producing. I feel so horrible because I couldnt give her what she wanted. I had to keep turning her head away and laying her cheek up closer to my collarbone. Dad says shes been fussy the entire time I've been at work so I'm hoping she'll let me cuddle her without rooting when I get home. I made the difficult decision to stop when i couldnt get my supply up and it was affecting me badly mentally and physically and now I feel like I should have tried longer and maybe started meds that make it happen because I couldnt make it happen with all the supplements and hydration in the world :-((
  • You have to keep yourself healthy so you can be there for the girls. You need that medication, you can’t help it. I couldn’t nurse myself, my supply never came in no matter what I did. You gave the girls everything you could, and everyday they did get to nurse from you (even if it was a tiny amount and it was a struggle) is a day they got so many benefits that a lot of babies never get. Don’t be discouraged, be proud. You and your girls have been through so much, and this too shall pass. Sending love and hugs to you, and I hope Sophia is feeling better soon.
  • Keep taking care of you so you can be there for them. I know some times saying no hurts, but it's these little things that train us and them for the big things. You are doing a good job. Keep it up.

  • Thank you guys! She seems to feel a little better now and is peacefully sleeping. I really dont know why she was trying earlier, maybe her mouth hurts or she just needed some skin time. She got some cuddles and I sang to them tonight and it seemed to help :)
